Addressing the OP: in a pure socialist society the means of distribution are determined by the collective. This obviously means that members of the collective who want to prevent people not pulling their weight can agree on appropriate safeguards while ensuring the needs of all are met.

The society as a whole will come up with the appropriate remedy since they control the means of production in a socialist model.

This comment may deserve its own thread. But I definitely sense an air of complacency and a lack of incentive throughout all of the posts.

Employ your kids to take out the trash and make them pay for their supper with the pennies you pay them. If they try to organize a strike for better pay and conditions, throw them out and hire the neighbor kids for less.

If they give you any sass, let Adam Smith's visible hand warm their backsides.

Socialism is when the people as a whole control the means of production. Why would the people not do for themselves what they've said they would do?
