English chess Grandmaster Nigel Davies has been on my friends list on Facebook for several months and we had a rather heated exchange a few minutes ago. Seems he is reluctant to condemn Trump for accepting an endorsement from an organization which is anti-Semitic (KKK). But he was quite vociferous in condemning the whole of the Democratic presidential candidates as anti-Semitic . I did point out that Bernie sanders is Jewish . You see, Nigel Davies is an ardent supporter of Israel and probably took great offense when I pointed out that Trump had just called Democrats "babykillers" and in fact Israel is has a much more liberal policy than the US on abortion. I confess that I called him an Apologist . But he is ! He then called me a Theist and immediately deleted the posts and unfriended me. In 20 years on the internet, no one has ever called me a Theist. Lots of other slurs, but not that.
I guess he did not analyze the position very well, LOL.

The post that was quoted here has been removedI don't see anything wrong with compartmentalizing his thoughts on Zionism and his thoughts on chess. I wouldn't buy one of his books on chess because I am utterly beyond any hope of salvation as a chess player, but I wouldn't NOT buy it because his opinions about the post-Holocaust Jewish nation-state differ from mine, or because of my sympathy for the Palestinians.
