I think he did it more to get you to stop crying about all the red thumbs and alerts you were getting, and still would be. 🙂 😛

@diver removed their quoted post
LOL@ Gooster, name calling will not help you. That is why we need the alert function. 🙂

The post that was quoted here has been removed
I laugh at pretty much everything you say, even the stuff that makes no sense. 🙂 😛

You just keep working on getting rid of the Alert function, see how much you can get rid of, before people start going too. ( NOW that isn't funny, and not meant to be)

IN your own words to Venda.

I'm with you on this,or at least,as I have suggested introduce an option to turn them off in one's profile. Not that I ever look at them anyway

You said:
I would also get rid of them altogether but I don’t think that’s going to happen as too many subscribers like using them. But seeing as how alerts are for subscribers only, a change which worked really well, then perhaps thumbs should be also.

( You received 7 thumbs down for your efforts)

Russ, you may have noticed that there has been some debate about this feature and I would like to make a serious suggestion.

The what:
- make the thumbing of forum posts only available to subscribers

The why:
- clearly it is a feature which many members see value in and that value can be commercialised
- the feature is currently rendered largely useless and frequently used as an infantile lever to overheat disagreements in the various forums
- the original intent of the feature is being made obsolete

Gooster another 12 thumbs down for this contribution! Really, you should know when to quit. 🙂

You should probably use the quote feature to quote, instead of putting it in your reply, because 19 pages in, it looks like you agree with @divegeester word-for-word.

Here is Russ' post:
I do not want to take this thread OT, so please don't reply to this, but a quick note to say in an effort to stop trolling of the "thumbs" system, any removed / banned player will have their votes deleted going forward.

"any removed / banned player will have their votes deleted going forward."

Any removed or banned player. Their thumb votes will be removed upon their removal. This does not address YOUR problem, which is your disagreeable posts being thumbed down by multiple normal users. There is no "abuse" of the thumb system, only normal users disagreeing with your misanthropic posts. The actual problem is your posting style, which is to put down all disagreement. You are not the dictator of the site, and even Russ, the owner of the site, did not support your ridiculous contention with his post, as you claim he did. I'm in agreement with him that banned or removed players thumb votes be removed because this is one way the thumbs system could be trolled.

However, this says nothing about your problem, which is your attempt to shut down the voices of normal users who disagree with you.
