@divegeestersaid You’re making a fair bit of effort debating something that doesn’t really matter.
Do I sense a “what about her passport?” challenge emerging...
I just don't like the way dems exploit African Americans. that's all.
Cultural appropriation, the libs call it.
I remember when John Kerry ran for prez. His wife, Theresa Heinz, white as can be, was from
South Africa but she is now an American citizen. So John spoke one time at one of his rallies and referred to her African American.
@earl-of-trumpssaid Oh? Here's what *my* wiki says: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamala_Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964, in Oakland, California.[2] Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was a breast-cancer scientist who had emigrated from Tamil Nadu, India in 1960 to pursue a doctorate in endocrinology at UC Berkeley.[8] Her father, Donald Harris, is a Stanford Univ ...[text shortened]... ply as "American"
Ah. Afro-Jamaican. Ok, a little of this, a little of that but mostly Indian

The original inhabitants of Jamaica were the indigenous Taíno, an Arawak-speaking
people who began arriving on Hispaniola by canoe from the Belize and the
Yucatan peninsula sometime before 2000 BCE.
Psssst: her mother is Indian, 100%. Don't forget her.
It sounds like she is 50% Hindu Indian and on her father's side some combination of Black, Taino, Spanish and English.
Her parents both went to UC Berkeley GOLDEN BEARS GRRAH
@earl-of-trumpssaid Fact Check: Yes, Kamala Harris Opposed DNA Evidence for Death Row Inmate
[i]In February, California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered new DNA testing in the 1983 murder case of Kevin Cooper. "The native people of Xaymaca, as the island was once called, are extinct. ............................................................................................................... There's a couple of pictures of Donald Harris and one of Kamala's paternal great-grandmother in this article. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/02/10/kamala-harris-president-parents-shyamala-gopalan-donald-harris-berkeley/

You tell me what "race" they would be considered.
Some Cubans still claim Taino ancestry so even though they've been culturally subjugated they are still around to some extent, though apparently not in any kind of organized political structure.
Sounds like her father is Black though. Probably insignificant amounts of Spanish, English and Taino ancestry.

Absolutely SHAMLESS. The democrats. awful.
How is she being “exploited”? She was and is an ambitious politician!
I think you’re just pissed off because you know she’s a great signing and it’s all bows and roses for Trump.
I'm not putting any labels on them The mother is known to be Indian.
I think the father is "mixed" but I don't know.
In any event, if she is clearly 50% Indian, why don't they refer to her as "Indian American"?
You know why and so do I. cultural appropriation.
I don't think you understand what the term "cultural appropriation" means.
Because of the way Kamala Harris looks and the social mores prevalent in American society, she was always going to be considered Black, not Asian Indian. It helps if you remember that "race" in humans isn't a legitimate biological distinction but merely a social construct.
