I read Thomas because I was chasing up a particular quote that I'd encountered elsewhere and I thought I remembered reading it there. Is that ok with you? Are you not allowed to read Apocrypha in your cult?

Can you furnish any definite proof that I am forbidden to read anything I want to read? I think you are just parroting someone else's accusations blindly.

So you found the quote in Thomas that you were curious about.
Did it do something for you to find it?

I barely have time to plumb the bottomless gold mine of the word of God to do much in spurious apocryphal Thomas.

A good read about the Apocryphal books which I unfortunately lost after reading it.

Dethroning Jesus: Exposing Popular Culture's Quest to Unseat the Biblical Christ by Darell Bock and Daniel Wallace

New York Times best-selling author Darrell Bock teams with Daniel Wallace to help lay readers separate fact from fiction and help from hype in the recent best-selling Jesus books and television specials.

There is a quest going on. It's the quest to reduce Jesus to a mythic legend or to nothing more than a mere man. Scholars such as Elaine Pagels and James Tabor are using such recent discoveries as the Gospel of Judas and the Gospel of Thomas to argue that the Christ of Christianity is a contrived figure and that a different Christ-one human and not divine-is the "true" Christ.

I made no accusation, I merely asked a question.

I think I found it, but i'm not 100% because I'm prettty sure it was a different translation. I haven't yet got around to looking again at alternative translations, I can only tolerate so much scripture at a time.

It's not a lie at all. Actually I read Luke and Matthew earlier this year, and Thomas too. Where do you get off just telling people that they are lying without any grounds whatsoever other than your own petty prejudice?

Where do you think I have demonstrated a lack of knowledge of the bible on this forum?

In a court of law, an eyewitness testimony must be made ...[text shortened]... If you deny this, you are being dishonest.

Given your posting history, that comes as no surprise.
<<It's not a lie at all. Actually I read Luke and Matthew earlier this year, and Thomas too.>>

Even if this is true, and I highly doubt it is, how does this constitute reading the Gospels “a bunch of times” after becoming an atheist, as you had claimed?

Why are you reading something you don’t believe and that you find so objectionable you can only tolerate small quantities of it at a time?

You have absolutely no respect for the truth and your casual and flippant dishonesty is evidence of that.

Like I said, clear out of town with your saddle soap, cowboy.

You think I cannot recognize a loaded question?
Come now.

Are you not allowed to read Apocrypha in your cult?

Innuendo some? A little bit maybe ??

I thought you'd decided not to engage any more? Have you changed your mind? How about pointing out where you think I've shown a lack of knowledge about the bible in these forums then, eh chump?

Maybe use one of the more appropriate synonyms next time then, eh?

And, in my defence, I was responding to pretty obnoxious post of yours that went quite beyond implication, if you recall.

Like I’d waste my time looking.

Still claiming to have read the Gospels “a bunch of times” after becoming an atheist when you don’t believe them and find them so objectionable you can only tolerate reading small quantities at a time?

Go on. Think of another lie to explain that one lol.

I’d suggest you stop trying to win arguments by any means necessary and start using your head for something other than a hat rack.

Dr. PB1022 says less talking and more listening is the right forum prescription for you.

It is mindlessness versus design, nothing more, nothing less. I am a Christian; I believe that God created the universe; this conversation isn't about either of those two things, its design, and mindless processes; what can we see, what can we know by those things we are aware of in life in the here now.
