I’d like to divide
Myself in order to see,
Each and every flower
Of every cherry tree.

It is Spring in the mountains.
I come alone seeking you.
The sound of chopping wood echos
Between the silent peaks.
The streams are still icy.
There is snow on the trail.

It is a curious thing... that every creed promises a paradise which will be absolutely uninhabitable for anyone of civilized taste.

The moon is a house
In which the mind is master.
Look very closely:
Only impermanence lasts.
This floating world, too, will pass.

Plum blossoms fill the court.
Moss grows in the empty room.
All conversation done,
In emptiness,
Sensing a strange fragrance.

No matter what the object of contemplation might be, it is seen to be identical to the middle. There is here nothing that is not true reality. When one fixes the mind on the dharmadhatu as object and unifies one's mindfulness with the dharmadhatu as it is, then there is not a single sight or smell that is not the middle way. The same goes for the realm of self, the realm of Buddha, and the realm of living beings.

“When a bodhisattva dwelling in samsara first gives rise to the thought of enlightenment, and when he or she seeks enlightenment single-mindedly, firmly, and without vacillating, then the merit contained in that single thought is profound, vast, limitless, and even the Tathagata, when describing in detail that merit, cannot exhaust it, though he expound on it to the end of time.”

Sending the Buddha in search of the Buddha,
grasping the mind with the mind,
they may exhaust themselves in striving for an entire eon but will never get it.
They do not understand that if they cease their thoughts and end their thinking,
the Buddha will automatically be present.

Pace yourself lemnondrop. Pace yourself.

Not too many utterly profound statements in a day.

I've never been tired of living in the mountains.
This thatched hut and brushwood gate
Are far from crowds of people.
The clear wind and the fair moonlight
Sweep across the eaves,
And the water in the brook
Washes cool over my heart.

Flowers in the yard smile in a shower.
Pine trees moan outdoors off the railings.
What keeps you wandering in search?
What you seek stares you in the face.
