The fourth awakening is diligent effort.
It is to engage ceaselessly in wholesome practices.
That is why it is called “diligent effort.”
It is refinement without mixing in other activities.
You keep going forward without turning back.

The fifth awakening is “not to neglect mindfulness.”
It is also called “to maintain right thought.”
This helps you to guard the dharma so you won’t lose it.
It is called “to maintain right thought or “not to neglect mindfulness.”

Yes thank you. I know a bit and am yet to be taught a lot but there is a time for everything. And your msg was timely. 😉
@rookie54said The Buddha said, “monks know that people who have many desires intensely seek for fame and gain; therefore they suffer a great deal. Those who have few desires do not seek for fame and gain and are free from them, so they are without such troubles.

Your quote reminds me of this, from the Bible:
"But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." - 1 Timothy 6:9-10 KJV
@rookie54said you've touched upon a lifelong quest for me,
to say only that which needs saying and then say no more
i am grateful to have read yer thoughts
And so it was that rookie said no more
and moonlight gleamed upon the polished floor
the students on their cushions could not think
of an appropriate rhyme for cushions, but
rather eventually, tea was served
This mind is a boundless openness;
It is a summit rising with forbidding abruptness.
It is a radiant light shining
From the crown of your head,
Illuminating wherever you are;
It is an awesome wind,
Rising up at each step you take,
Enveloping all things.
