The problem is, you cannot trust a leak/er from either the FBI or the CIA. They call such a false leak a "misdirection".

Did you ever ask yourself why this had to be done by an unnamed agent as opposed to, letting the people know who is watching out for them? Why the secrecy?
Yes, the people reveled in great joy so they did not see the suspiciousness in the revelation and didn't care, even i f it was pointed out to them.
Nixon did something behind the scenes to p!ss off a Mister Big... Somewhere.

Another quick example... When Nixon was told that the Repubs in the Senate were not going to back him (why??) in an impeachment, he agreed to resign. But first, nobody wanted VP Spiro Agnew as President, who would assume the post.
So all-of-of-a-sudden, out come the charges against Agnew, and he resigned and was replaced by Gerald Ford, who quickly became President after Nixon resigned, which happened very shortly after Ford being sworn in as VP.
See how it works...? Do you honestly believe those charges against Agnew were real? If they were real, they would have been pointed out before the election when candidates get groomed.
Anyway. You may rest comfortably in knowing that Gerald Ford oversaw the Warren Commission, the bogus coverup investigation of the JFK assassination.
