So-called life coaching is an unregulated industry with no quality control and even, on occasion, it is potentially harmful. With all that in mind, this thread is for offering each other life coaching services and support.

It’s never too early to start planning for your retirement pension.

We don’t think we’re ever going to get old until we reach 50.

It wasn’t until I was 66 and started getting my State Pension that I realised that my 42 years of paying National Insurance contributions still didn’t entitle me to a Full State Pension! That’s because I retired 4 years before my State Pension age. In order to qualify I’ve decided to pay back those 4 years via a £3,300.00 bank loan over 3 years. As a result my extra SP payment already covers 90% of the cost of the loan.

Also, the State Pension isn’t enough to live a relatively comfortable life in the UK. You also need a private pension.

Working for private companies made early retirement possible for me, and Volvo has been a generous employer.

Always “pay yourself first” even if just a wee bit (compound interest is surprisingly good, long term). Pay for what you need, save for what you want.

We live a very frugal life in retirement but easily get through £7000 per month. And that's with no mortgage, loans or credit card interest. I think when I am old enough to get the state pension it will be about £800 per month. The state pension is certainly not enough to live on.
