@Very-Rusty saidErm, you are the one who has said some clans won't play your clan. (You've said this multiple times).
@Ghost,
You are saying Clan Leaders Refuse to play me, which is very false statement to make.
I at anytime have between 20-30 Clan challenge games on the go. On a Clan as good as the one I am on that is a lot for one player, although you may not know this because you are not experienced in Clans as I am playing in them for 20 years.
So lets cut the crap on Clans n ...[text shortened]... n leaders from speaking to them on this Site, and am on a first name basis with many of them.

Or have you chosen to misunderstand again?
Bump for Rusty
I'll give you a couple of scenarios:
1. Two clans play each other, from time to time. There is no rush to complete the challenges which are fairly well matched and where all games, out of respect for each other, are always played to conclusion. (Never ended early to hurry the end of the challenge). Top priority is enjoyment of chess with a healthy desire to win the challenge.
2. Two clans play each other, one of the two always in a rush to complete the challenge and start another. Pairing often feel lobsided and games readily abandoned in challenges that are perceived as pointless to continue in. One of the clans begins to feel they are just there to serve the other. (Like on a conveyor belt).
Do you feel this might be the reason some clans stop playing you? (It is not necessary for you to be a clan leader to answer this).

You said they wouldn't play "ME" I am not the whole Clan! I am one small part of it.
What I said is they refuse to play our Clan not me personally. You try to always make things look differently than they actually are.

"Clan leaders have spoken publicly about lobsided and unfair challenges. I can't think of many other reasons why a clan would refuse to play you.
As far as I know, no clan has declined to play us in challenges."
You as in Metallica. (Obviously).
@Very-Rusty
Why are you afraid to answer this question?

Edit: It's hilarious you can thumb down this post but not respond to it. I guess I hit the nail on the head.

YOU did not say Metallica you said "ME" personally. That is exactly the way you meant it too.
Just not TRUE once again!

@Very-Rusty saidI think you deliberately misunderstood to divert away from the discussion about why some clans don't want to play your clan.

It's you MO.
Again, why are you afraid to answer the question put to you?
@PuzZuLz saidCase in point. Failure to comprehend the concept does not make it incorrect.
Imagine not even focusing on chess improvement or good games.
Noooo, your the type who just wants to collect useless points on some tally sheet so you and your team can call yourselves champions?
Champions of what?
Lmao 🤣
Last I heard, to get any points, you had to win more games than your opponent.
The accrual of those points produces a total points number, that was once the definer.
Then they went to net points as the definer. Now you subtracted the lost point from the won points to determine the total.
The goal? To accrue the most net points.
The team with the most is the victor.
Pretty simple really.
Now your awe inspiring wisdom regarding improvement in chess.
Let's explore this, shall we?
Do you win all of your games?
Does your rating(???) continue to increase?
If not, why do you even bother to play at all?
Pretty stupid really. right?
You are dealing with apples and oranges here.
If you focus is to become the next Magnus Carlsen, then why are you even playing clan chess at all?
Hit the books man, play postal chess and analyze every move for days.
Speed chess has world champions too,
Do you think speed chess produces the best chess? Hardly.
It produces the best within those parameters.
So who are you to say whose chess improves or declines playing clan chess.
It is a fairly relative thing.
Let's face it, there are radical differences between the skill levels of chess players on this site alone, much less in the world.
There are several who claim to be studs who are actually mechanized (i.e. they use outside influence as an aid).
That is sad. They are doing this for what accolade?
So if you would care to philosophize on the merits of the game, I'll be your huckleberry!!
@shortcircuit saidGiving you access to yet even more games wouldn't level the playing field. You get that right?
But did you also consider how many clans refuse to play other clans, for whatever reason? Why not make it manditory that all clans MUST play every other clan x number of games to even be considered for the top clan position?
Then, at least you would level the playing field.
And why do you gloss over the reasons other clans don't want to play your clan and instead suggest it should be mandatory?
Why do you think some clans refuse to play you, and shouldn't that give you pause for thought?
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidI don't profess to know the reasons any of them choose.

I have my opinions, but they are my opinions, therefore not relevant.
Some may feel they don't measure up.
Some may feel I am the anti-Christ.
Some clans just don't match up well.
Who knows? I can't waste much time thinking about it.
But, if you are going to have a league or pool play, they should all have to play everyone. Ain't that a kick in the head?
I have negotiated many challenges in my time. I suspect as many as anyone.
For me to have successfully negotiated that many challenges (won or lost) must speak to my credibility. A negotiation requires two sides, right?
I have walked away from challenges that were ridiculous, and I have never posed a ridiculous challenge.
Several of the clan leaders participating in this thread have negotiated many challenges with me.
So, you figure it out. Those of you who form your opinions should know why you formed them. All of this bravado is for kids, and really not worthy of my time, which is why I elect not to participate in the mud slinging.
I made an exception in this case, and my window for participation is waning.
That will be a blessing to many of you I presume.
But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't change a thing, does it?
None of this is important. I spent the last year caring for my Father who recently died from Alzheimer's.
I am training three people to replace me at work as I prepare to retire in January.
I am dealing Diabetes and making the most of my time with family and friends.
I play clan chess for recreation and nothing more.
It does not define me, but I have always strived to be the best I can be...because I spent time on it.
I don't get my jollies arguing or debating about things as they are a waste of my time. Time is precious, it is fleeting, and soon it will be gone. Soon I will be gone.
So in the same words I have uttered for years, if it makes you sleep better, change the rules, the format and anything else you like, I really don't care.
My job will be to dissect the rules, figure out the revised strategy, and beat everyone (if possible). This is the fire of competition. Nothing more.
Everything I have always done and always will do, will be within the rules.
That is the fun. In the words of Sir Elton John, "I'm Still Standing"
Does this explain it for you?

"I have never posed a ridiculous challenge"
Of course you have. We all have... It's the job of the other clan leaders not to accept it. I suspect that was the reason for the 200 points difference being introduced. Not saying you but clans in general having ridiculous matchups.
Anyway, carry on 😁
If you're retiring then it's time we play against each other in a challenge again.

Sorry for butting in:
If Metallica Clan Leader retires and I didn't see where it was a sure thing he would, I just "may be doing the same". Then you guys will be pretty much free to do as you please with no resistance.
Again, you guys may want to have a look at having a separate rating for Clan Challenges which is the only way it would work. I believe Russ had said at one time it wouldn't be feasible to do. That is the reason by the way we don't have accurate ratings.
I am getting tired of Ghost anyways. At least you and Bish can be talked to. Hard to talk to someone who THINKS he knows it all.
-VR
@shortcircuit
You and your kind ruined the clan system and any enjoyment people used to have.
And don't talk to me about chess, ever.
I'm 1800, you're not.
