@Trev333 said@Trev,
Don't understand why you have mentioned me? I don't have an issue with the clan points system the way it is, everyone knows the rules and plays by it.
A few things I would like to improve things.
1. As discussed here a bit, something else completely separate from the clan table. A mini league, a cup... something to add interest for all and not just a few clans. Obvious ...[text shortened]... only reason is to keep ratings low which is cheating and those players should be banned from clans.
I could be one of the people your talking about with a floating rating, but most here know about where my playing strength is, and I am talking about the Clan Leaders.
It has dropped over the years due to health problems and probably getting older doesn't help much either. I play a ton of games as you know. I do have my flashes of the old VR at times. 😉
I know a solution but it may be to difficult for Russ to code and take too much time and effort as his plate is usually pretty full, not to mention money it may take to do it.. A separate rating for just the Clan Challenges from all other ones would make a world of diffrence. Eventually everyone would hit their true playing strength.
As we know this has been an issue for many years and you and I have disuccused it now on several occasions and you did seem in favor of the idea.

@shortcircuit saidGreat to hear 3/7 works for you.
First of all, you can play all of the slow long drawn out chess matches you want to on this site. There are some massively long time limit tournaments. You can play skittles games with anyone you like. You can play postal chess if you like. Now, being an affectionado of the game as you present yourself to be, have you ever heard of speed chess? They offer it here. Ther ...[text shortened]... t a single game to a time out. It is not that hard, and to say it is any different, just isn't true.
Although we all bob around in the same ocean, we do so in different boats. If a majority prefer a slower time control such as 3/14 (more in the spirit of correspondence chess, where game analysis transcends speed of play) then we should go with that. (Personally speaking, 3/7 works pretty well for me too and I likewise have never lost a game on time, but this isn't about personal preferences.)

Agreed, that is the keywords (Personal Preferences)!!! This is why I say a vote should be taken by all Clan Challenge players to see what the preferred time would be for them.
I believe 3/14 is way too slow, again that is my personal preference would be 3/7!
3/7 can take a long time to play, I can't imagine playing a 3/14 a challenge could last forever!!!

@shortcircuit saidI see nothing wrong with players being part of more than one clan if that rocks their boat. (I note a number of your own clan share this opinion).
it makes ZERO sense for players to be in multiple clans. Name me any sport in the world where players play on multiple teams within the same umbrell a of a game. There are none. This creates problems because it facilitates collusion. It also causes a problem because any time two clans who have a common player between them, that player is automatically excluded from being in that challenge. That is a limitation.
And I would step away from the 'collusion' angle. This led one of your own clan members to make insipid insinuations against a respected clan leader, just because he happened to be in a second clan saying he always played his best when doing so.
Genuine collusion (of which I have never seen any examples) can easily be flagged to the mods. (And the 'common player' thing barely registers as an issue. Just don't play them in that particular challenge).

You are talking about me, and that Clan leader who said he would back Trev's Clan is also the guy who makes the Challenges againts Trev's Clan. The OPTICS do not look GOOD!!
Also plays in Tev's Clan. Anyone else said that most you would be going nuts over it.

@shortcircuit saidNo, you are wrong on this. It is poor chess etiquette and goes against the spirit of chess. - It merely highlights you have lost your way in your pursuit for quantity over respect for one's opponent. - Every time you have asked a clan member to ditch their games to end a challenge, a part of your chess soul has perished.
Since this is not a game of individuals, but a team game, the needs of the team outweigh the needs of the individual. As the system is set up currently, there is nothing wrong with resigning games once a challenge has been decided. I have argued this ad nauseum as well.
This remains true, irrespective of the times you have beaten your drum.
@shortcircuit saidThese limits are a good thing, to aid clan leaders unable to self regulate. (And as collusion risk is an issue for you, prevent clans playing other clans repeatedly that they know they can easily beat).
Another problem is the 3 simultaneous challenge situation. This prohibits the massive amounts of games that would be possible, yes. But is also limits clans that like to play a lot of challenges against any other clan in particular. There is talk of playing fixed numbers of games to limit this, as you advanced the notion earlier. But did you also consider how many cla ...[text shortened]... to even be considered for the top clan position?
Then, at least you would level the playing field.
And if clans are indeed refusing to play you, maybe reflect on why this might be the case. (Rather than looking for ways to make it compulsory to play you).
@Very-Rusty saidIs alerting perfectly acceptable posts really all you have?

No counter arguments?
@shortcircuit saidWell, I think I have read, and addressed all your salient points.
Not sure any of you will take the time to read this, and honestly, I am not sure why I took the time to type it out for you, but perhaps if may give you pause to consider things that haven't been taken into account.
I hope my responses give you pause to consider things outside of your bubble.

Show your evidence before making false statements would be my suggestion to you.
Don't be too sure I alerted your post!!!
