    Pretty please?

I don't understand why we have all these tournaments with max rating of 2999,
where everyone entering them is <2000 except for that pest cenerentola ๐Ÿ˜

I'm sick of resigning to him!

Agree! I'm sure >2000 players would appreciate such tournaments as well.

    Tournament 25734

Another tournament with cenerentola in it....
I entered this one and in the run-up I was always keeping an eye on who joined,
how many entrants were left and every time I looked he was not registered.

It has now started and there he is... I bet he was the last man to join.
He's doing this on purpose, he knows that if he joined earlier people would withdraw!

    DISGRACEFUL!

PLEASE.... give us proper banded tournaments... without this 2999 cap rubbish!

At the end of the day, this is 4 more (tough) games in my inbox that will ultimately be a waste of time because of this shameless, proven engine user!

I feel like resigning out of protest, but do not wish to be labelled a "sandbagger" so I will play them out... but if I run into him, I WILL resign on move 1.... AGAIN!

    Game 12085211
    Game 12085216
    Game 12095493
    Game 12095494

I have a tournament entry rating of 1660 which puts me in that band.
1600s are far too low to be included with everything above, which is potentially Grandmasters and engines.
Like bidding on eBay, I have delayed and watched, entering tournaments when I was the last entry. and the ones I entered early I have withdrawn from if the spoilers entered.

    This has been raised before.

    Thread 169828

Unfortunately nothing seems to have changed.
The point of banded tournaments is presumably to create a fairly level playing field.
But, as you say, anyone entering any of the top-rated tournaments is likely to find themselves up against someone playing at
Grandmaster strength, possibly eight hundred rating points higher than they are.
    Hardly level.
It's not what I expect from a banded tournament, so I no longer bother entering them.

I don't get why a 2500 player wants to keep "competing" against players whose average ratio is 700 points lower. Seems rather unsporting.

Exactly, he has no dignity, no class, no honour... and furthermore has no respect for the needs of fellow chess pl....
Actually scratch that, he's not a chess player. He's a sad fraud and a JOKE (and not a funny one either).

In every currently open tournament with a ceiling of 2999, there he sits at the top waiting for his victims rated anywhere up to 900 points lower. Though he is breaking no rule in entering these tournaments -- the fault goes back to your original plea for banded tournaments with narrower ranges at the top. I'm sure the player n question would prefer to compete against players closer to himself in rating. Wouldn't he?

Perhaps in response to this thread there are now some open tournaments with an intermediate band going up to 1845. Unfortunately I'm currently 3 points over that, so stuck in the 2999 group. But anyway, this is an improvement.

I just withdrew from a tournament that he's now in.

Yeah 1845, that's a step, but like you i'm also out of that range.

1700-2000 would be great, and I reckon we'd have no problem filling them up
and without fear of this incessant turd from entering.

There is a ready-made banding system we could suggest following- The US National Chess Class system.
    Above 2000 are Candidate Masters /IMs /GMs
    Class A is 1800- 1999
    Class B is 1600- 1799
    Class C is 1400- 1599
I think this goes down to Class J- Scholars / Early Beginners

Yes, apparently due to popular demand there have been tourneys opening up in the requested ranges. However, I see the problem -- these sections take forever to fill up. This may be why these ranges were not offered previously -- not enough interested players with those ratings. This may be why the upper ceiling was left open before.

Nothing has changed. I have 17 tournaments available today, but they are already decided before starting: cenerentola, mihail and all the other fakes of the first two/three pages of tables. There is no more fun playing in this site and I can't understand why the adminstrators don't ban these fakes as it was once. After ten years I decided not to renew my subscription and I'm very sad for that. We were more than 17000 when I began playing here and now... I think very early only cenerentola and his friends will play here, the ones against the others.
