walcott is wasteful and prone to injury, but the other two have their moments. for me lennon is the better of the 3, he has improved quite a bit in the last couple of years. trouble is that england don't have a lot of players who can take on a beat a players, all 3 of them can do so...
They all looked wasteful to me, but if there's no one better in England, then Lennon might do. Take Arshavin, give him the citizenship, I'd love to see how he'd do in WC.

i know i need another defender but can't think of anyone who can play left back well enough if cole gets injured... and can play in the centre if needed. just like wes brown.

anyone?

not that i want england to do well or anything but i really don't rate bent and c. cole as good enough to play at international level.

the problem i see with your squad is width...

Take Crouch instead of Owen - give your team some chance

Crouch is like "Bambi" on ice !!
Owen still has the speed and instinct .
If you play Crouch, England will revert to the long ball .Playing the long ball at international level you will just give the ball away !!
If you play Owen ,you have to get it to his feet ..
If England are in trouble with 10 or 15 minutes to go then ,you could bring Crouch on and play the long ball..

Just been reading the last few posts from Phil and Trev...
This is one of the things I love about football...I can't believe how opinions can vary so much!
I agree that Lennon/W-P/ and Walcott are all similar - the most unproductive being W-P.
I'd only take Milner 'cos of his versatility, he's not that skillful.

My 23 would be:

James/Robinson (why bother taking a 3rd keeper to warm the bench?)
Terry/Upson/A.Cole/Johnson/Brown/Jagielka (if fit)/Bridge. (no room for Ferdinand - he's a waste of space)
Gerrard/Lampard/Barry/Carrick/Milner/Lennon/Beckham/Hargreaves (if fit)
Rooney/Heskey/Crouch/Defoe/Walcott/Owen.

I await the expected onslaught!!!

you need 3 goalkeepers in case one gets injured or send off in a match. unless you want to go into a key game late in the tournament with no sub goalkeeper.

Crouch is a source of danger on every cross or whenever the ball is near the opponents goal. Tottenham is in 5th place now. Owen is only good for an occasional tap in.

crouch is not a player who you can play the long ball to, he's not strong and he can't head the ball. what's the point in being that tall if you can't use it? heskey is much better at that. plus he's not a player who you're going to bring on with 20 mins to go in need of a goal, that would be goalscorers like owen and defoe.

So why haven't they been doing it for the past 14 odd years?

The number of goals scored during United's treble winning season of 99, which Beckham got an assist for was incredible. He was also generally the top assist getter in the Premiership during his years there.

Your bias is not founded on the truth.
