Did you read the excellent material that I posted in this very thread concerning the term parousia, usually translated erroneously as 'coming'.

How much are you willing to gamble just out of interest?
More JW babble.

Yes and you are MIG 27 fighter jet pilot.

still waiting for your alternative explanation, still waiting for you to tell us how the passage on parousia was erroneous, heck if you evah evah evah manage to proffer anything with substance the internet will likely break down and all the servers go into meltdown.

On the contrary not a single individual has managed to either refute the claims nor proffer as valid an equally rational alternative interpretation and explanation of Matthew 24. I have accomplished what I set out to do, to highlight that we are now living in the epoch that Christ mentions as 'the beginning of pangs of distress',

Actually, you have only succeeded in highlighting that we are 'not' now living in the epoch that Christ mentions as 'the beginning of pangs of distress.'

Have the quietly dropped your... [i]"In view of the tragic recent events in Japan and Ecuador are any of the doubters still insistent that we have not seen a marked increase in the frequency and magnitude of seismic activity as prophesied by the Christ in the book of Matthew, chapter 24" thing in the OP? Does it ever occur to you to just say so when you have tried an idea out that didn't get - or deserve - any traction? 😉

Its like a ride on time! divegeester and FMF at the tail end of a rather interesting debate bringing up the rear with their obligatory attempts to make debate personal. One could almost set ones watch by it.. 😵

I want those that have heard this explanation to either refute it or proffer an equally rational alternative explanation of Matthew Chapter 24, something that you yourself despite your pretensions of being a Christian seem sadly unable to do.

First of all neither I nor anyone else is under any duress to answer any of your questions. You have NO jurisdiction here and cannot coerce and compel a person to answer anything you ask. If you find that interesting or want to make anything of it then so be it, but your input to this debate so far has been nothing short of the usual banal attempts to make debate personal. Its both tedious, predictable and quite frankly intellectually lazy. I told you that your attempts to make debate personal will be ignored so either you turn up the tone control or talk to yourself, its your choice.

I don't think this is right. The Umayyad Caliphate were expanding north and stopped when they were defeated by Martel. They didn't attempt raids into France after that. The difficulty is that in assessing the importance of the battle one has to look at a counterfactual - what would have happened had Martel lost? Counterfactuals are problematic as one ...[text shortened]... y Roman Empire wouldn't have happened and that would have had a drastic effect on world history.
Counterfactual as you say so I will not pursue the point. I do agree that raiding was pretty standard operating procedure. The fact is that one defeat has never been sufficient reason never to try again and there have to be other reasons. Martel (or his fans) claim too much.

What is not counterfactual, however, is the refutation of Robbie's false assertion that the Mongols invaded France and were defeated. I think they did send a letter to the King at one point but nothing ensued as they had other interests.
