I am pro euthanasia providing there are enough safeguards.

I would imagine that anyone positive about their eternal life next to Jesus
can't wait to get there so they will also be very much in favour. (?)

Seems to me that the one who believes there's nothing in the hereafter should be the one in a real big hurry to get there.

Explain the logic of that!

Analogy.
2 men waiting at a train station.
One is about to go on holiday to the most fabulous resort possible.
The other is going to nowhere.

Who is impatient for their train?

"Explain the logic of that!"

You believe that one ceases to exist after death. I believe that God gives eternal life to those that believe.
meaning that if God says it, it is true.
Since I believe that there is an afterlife the life I am living now has meaning in that what I do today will impact my life in eternity.

But not so for the unbeliever. It matters not one whit what one does today because it has no relevance in the hereafter, even though one may try to make their life now have meaning and purpose, it has only temporal meaning. Of course you will have to disagree with that!

Why prolong the inevitable if the inevitable is the end of you? One has nothing to gain in the hereafter by prolonging the inevitable.

By contrast the believer has every reason to live long on the earth, and to produce fruit for the harvest of eternity.

You're missing his point. Eg Religious extremists are more likely to feel happy about dying as they are going to paradise.

A distinction should be drawn between euthanasia to benefit the departing, and that to benefit the continuing. I kind of like both.

To someone who believes this life is the one and only chance we get
it obviously has immense meaning.

You on the other hand should rejoice at your death as you are going
to a much better place. The logical thing for you to do is top yourself
and any other believers so you do not have to wait a minute longer
for paradise. Please be careful not to harm any atheists though ... this
is our only life.

That is an ambiguous statement. Who is the someone you're are referring to? This life is everyone's only chance, but what do you mean by "chance"? A chance for what? You can use the phrase "it obviously has immense meaning", but what are you talking about? What has meaning? What is the meaning you're referring to?

You are lost. I already have eternal life. I don't need to "top" myself to "get to a much better place". The only thing logical about that is that that is what you would think. It's cowardly and selfish to try and escape this life for the sake of one better while saying adios to all the ones missing out on the gift of eternal life.

Wasn't it you that started this thread? Do you think that a discussion can be had about euthanasia? I don't. What I think is that this forum is just a playground for atheists such as yourself, and maybe a deist too, where you can make jokes about euthanasia and suicide in an attempt to demoralize Christians at the expense of those who are actually suffering in pain with horrible diseases.

Euthanasia and suicide are not a joke.

I've been contributing to this forum for years and a can scarcely remember anyone making any jokes about people suffering in pain with horrible diseases. What is the basis for such a claim?

Do you believe that someone who goes through euthanasia will go to hell?
