If you actually took the time to research how they do that you would stop making yourself look REALLY stupid. For one thing, the visible universe has a max distance we can see with scopes, that is just under 14 billion light years, beyond that it is educated guesses like the idea that the universe is actually about 3 or 4 times bigger than what we can see because it has been expanding faster than the speed of light and still is expanding faster than c.
We THINK the universe is about 50 billion light years out, that is to say 100 billion LY across if we can assume the shape like a ball which may or may not be true.

I used to be in and out of Bell labs working in a cleanroom there and found in the auditorium a talk by Alan Guth about the big bang and such. He opened it up at the end for questions and I did a bit of math and saw the rough range of the expansion from millimicronnanonano second or so he said it went from something the size of a proton to the size of a grapefruit and I calculated that meant it was expanding in that era at 10^22 times faster than light. I asked that question how does that fly in face of the limit of c.
First he said, 'You got your arithmetic right'🙂 and then explained spacetime does not have a speed limit, only the mass residing in it has c as limit.
Thinking on that now, I am wondering if it is due to the Higgs field soaking the universe, not sure exactly what the Higgs field is, like electric field? Like magnetic field? Not sure but it is associated with giving particles mass.
So I wonder if going faster and faster in space till you get close to c, could it be like driving a sumarine through molasses, where the field sort of piles up in front of you and giving more mass, maybe and slowing time for sure.
My guess is the Higgs field is at fault here.

You chose your words poorly. Nothing is traveling faster than c.
Go back to your source and reread it. If you are using an exact quote your source is wrong. I suspect you altered the quote to be wrong though. Go back and read it again.
