I'll go out on a limb and predict Nepo will win. He has a good record against Carlsen.

These 2 young veterans in their prime should make for an interesting match. 🙂
    I almost like you now...🤔

Perhaps it's a temporal rift in the space time continuum. 😏

Magnus is NOT the world champion of classical chess. He can only win the title in Rapid or Blitz..

What openings are going to use those guys?

I think "Ruy Lopez" - Berlin
    Sicilians
    English

But no chance for a King's Gambit......

    ...or a Modern Defense

    ...or a Vienna Gambit

    ...or Bird's opening

    Etc. Etc. Etc.

We need a champion that is willing to play more interesting openings.

If you search some databases, you'll see that 1. f4 is playable with a fairly even chance to w/l/d. Also, 1. g3 and 1.b3 are do-able. In other words they aren't losing moves...

    Agreed.

Many openings are playable but we keep seeing the same boring openings at the world championship.
I think they choose openings that can be drawn with ease.
The openings I suggested usually end up with a winner and a loser.

Many other openings are playable too.

hope they show something wild, unusual from the beginning. A gambit game.

Maybe a forgotten opening with a trap ..... and PUFF!!!! checkmate before move 15.

    3 wins for Magnus

It seems championship 2021 is game over.

So how to understand Nepo in this match?

Maybe game 6 is the key....

So now I realize that 2 previous challengers did an amazing job.

Nepo is a good player.... but Magnus has more "focus" in winning the match

I think it's Nepo not using good positions to try for the win.
    I dunno. I am a bum. 🤔

It seems that public put too much pressure on challenger.

Every time Nepo lost a game it feels like he was a vicious criminal.

    heyyyy.... this is just chess.

    Relax.

I would like to see a Nepo again in the next championship, 2023?

So far the 2022 candidates are...

    1. Nepo (WC loser)
    2. Radjabov (Nominated by Fide)
    3. Duda (World Cup Winner)
    4. Karjakin (World Cup 2nd place)
    5. Firouzja (Fide Grand Swiss winner)
    6. Caruana (Fide Grand Swiss 2nd place)
    7. ?
    8. ?

The last two spots are for the top two finishers in the Fide Grand Prix.
