@Metal-Brain saidI have a question for those of you who have been so critical of me since the election.
When you say socialism is a failure you only mimic.
Last week, I suddenly became woozy, felt sick, and started breaking out in a sweat. I walked into a hospital and received wonderful care. I had doctors and nurses looking after me, received an X-ray and two CT scans, had my medications and healthcare needs taken care of, and spent several nights in a hospital room with a television, and nurses checking on me, and lunch dinner et al was excellent.
Do you know how much I paid out of my own pocket?
Not one nickel. Not one penny. We have Medicare,
So here's my question: If you or someone you love were suddenly sick and needed that same care, wouldn't you want to be able to walk into a hospital and receive it, too?
Healthcare isn't a political party. It's something every human being may need at any moment. And when that moment comes, I hope we can all agree that getting people the care they need matters more than which side of the political aisle they happen to be on.
Something to think about.
Why can't we encourage competition among private insurance companies, make hospital pricing transparent, reduce unnecessary medical costs, expand Health Savings Accounts, and provide reasonable assistance to people who truly need it?
Why must the debate always be framed as either government-controlled healthcare or people being left without care?
I would like to see a system where people have choices, doctors have the freedom to practice medicine, hospitals can provide excellent care, and ordinary working Americans can afford their medical bills.
Isn't the goal to make healthcare affordable and accessible while preserving individual freedom and PERSONAL CHOICE????? Do you Really want govt in charge? Just who is that stranger cutting on me?
@AverageJoe1 saidI'm glad you received top notch care and you're feeling better, but... dude... come back to reality please. Medicare is government.

@wildgrass saidI think this is more evidence that Joe is a high schooler; anybody on Medicare knows it's a government program - heck they take the Part B premium right out of your Social Security check.

And Medicare does not "pay every penny" for hospital stays, tests, etc. etc.(https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/inpatient-hospital-care), so Joe's tale is a fable.

@no1marauder saidIt pays 80% of the bill. Supplemental WHICH WE WOULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BUY would be shut down.

Why, , and by whom would we be told by some federal agent at the door that you can no longer protect yourself with supplemental health insurance?
Could this really happen? They could Shut Down United Healthcare? A private industry utilized by private citizens.?
@wildgrass saidAre you saying the government administers Medicare, or are you saying the government owns and operates the healthcare facilities where Medicare patients receive treatment?"

It is odd that you should use medicare as an example. Medicare costs about 14% of all federal spending. Hardly something to brag about. And I thought you had a problem with medicare for all. That is what Bernie Sanders wanted.
If you think medicare is so great why not support medicare for all?
Socialism for the old, capitalism for the young?
@AverageJoe1 saidWhy do you never know what people are saying?
Are you saying the government administers Medicare, or are you saying the government owns and operates the healthcare facilities where Medicare patients receive treatment?"

@AverageJoe1
I have noticed that United Healthcare and other health insurance companies are being sued. I think it is a class action lawsuit. They are being investigated for fraud. These insurance companies seem to be corrupt. That would explain why health insurance costs so much.
