Perhaps, some inkling of understanding that some restoration of political stability brought about by the end of the clown show of the Trump "victory party" has something to do with things.
I would think that the drug companies were already laser focused on finding a vaccine from the get go, no matter who was in the White House.
And that includes drug companies in the UK and Germany that were also involved in the recent vaccine developments, but not part of the juvenile pet name.
If only your hero President had been that focused, the US wouldn't be in the mess it is now.

The biggest news since yesterday was Trump agreeing to the GSA ascertainment of Biden's apparent victory and the certifications of that victory in key States like Nevada, Michigan and Pennsylvania. IF the market was reacting to political developments, it was surely doing so to the reality that Trump's mischief making is almost done.
It's also possible that the announcement of someone as respected as Janet Yellen as Biden's choice for Secretary of the Treasury might have had a positive impact.

If Repubs lose the Senate in these run off elections then yes you will see a crash.
