So his job was to shoot and kill an unarmed woman??
An unarmed woman trying to break into the building. She was an insurrectionist and would have happily hung Pence if she could have.

@Metal-Brain said
That is all she was worth? How much is your life worth?
And why are you still repeating the insurrection lie? She was not armed.

Explain to all of us how she was a threat and needed to die. Did her death save lives? How is your logic like Spock where the needs of the many are more important to the few. Explain it. That small unarmed skinny woman had to die because.......
This will explain it, you can all settle now. All you have to do is look at the other side of the story, not the side that is being hashed out in this circle jerk.
She was rushing a govt barricade, somewhat like the final scene in Les Misérables.
I’ll leave you with it, but I find it funny when you say she was unarmed. Did someone make a distinction about her being unarmed ? which person said she is unarmed and how do they know if she was unarmed . Geez

The Sequence of EventsThe Breach:
Babbitt joined a crowd of protestors who pushed into the Capitol building and advanced toward the hallway outside the Speaker's Lobby.The Barricade: Capitol Police officers had blocked the double wooden doors with furniture, and glass panes in the upper portion of the doors were smashed out by members of the crowd.The Ascent: As rioters attempted to force their way through the shattered windows, Babbitt TRIED TO CLIMB through one of the openings.
The Shot: Stationed inside the lobby to protect evacuating members of Congress, Lt. Michael Byrd fired a single round from his service weapon, striking Babbitt in the shoulder/neck area.
Aftermath: Babbitt fell backward from the window ledge onto the floor, where emergency response and police personnel rendered immediate medical aid before she was transported to Washington Hospital Center and pronounced dead.
Investigations and Legal OutcomesInternal and Federal Clearance: Multiple federal investigations—including by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Capitol Police—cleared Lt. Michael Byrd of any criminal wrongdoing or policy violations, concluding that his use of force was LAWFUL to protect members of Congress and staff from the advancing crowd.Civil Settlement: Babbitt's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit challenging the shooting, which was later resolved through a financial settlement agreement.District of Columbia | Department of Justice Closes Investigation into the Death of Ashli BabbittApr 14, 2021 — The investigation examined: * Video footage posted on social media * Statements from the officer involved and other officers and witnesses * Physical evidence f...Department of Justice (.gov)4:48Capitol Police Officer Who Fatally Shot Ashli Babbitt Speaks OutYouTube·TODAYCase Study of The Ashli Babbitt Case: Justified Deadly Force or Murder?Ashli Babbitt was a 35-year-old Air Force veteran and supporter of President Donald Trump who was shot and killed by a Capitol Police officer during the January...Evidence SolutionsAshli Babbitt, Jan. 6 rioter killed in Capitol, offered military funeral ...Aug 28, 2025 — The U.S. Air Force will provide military funeral honors for Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who was shot and killed by police during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot ...Politico0:39Ashli Babbitt's family to get nearly $5M in settlement over her death during ...YouTube·FOX 5 San DiegoUS to pay $5m to family of 6 January rioter Ashli BabbittMay 19, 2025 — The Trump administration has agreed to pay a $5 million settlement to the family of Ashli Babbitt, a US Air Force veteran who was shot and killed by a Capitol p...BBCAshli Babbitt a Martyr? he won't explain any of that. It would be admitting he is wrong and dumb.
This angry, violent mob had already injured more than 100 police officers, most wearing protective riot gear. A subset of that group with Babbitt in the vanguard (who had a knife in her back pocket) had smashed windows in an attempt to get at House members and their staff only a few feet away.

Police don't have to wait for violent felons to get an immediate chance to attack and seriously injure or even kill defenseless victims. They can legally use deadly force in such circumstances.

Does these same rules apply when police encounter a black thug resisting arrest?

Read the decision by the Capitol Police. I included the link a few posts up.

They were there. You were not.

Your opinion is as valid as a bucket of warm spit.
Straight from the horses, I mean communist mouth.

You are as much a coward as he was. I bet you would also shoot an unarmed woman.

@Suzianne said
What you seem to forget is there is no fact in you.

Your 'truth' is what others tell you.

I've already spoken my piece about this in this forum.

I'm not re-litigating it.

It would have been a cowardly act for a police officer sworn to protect to allow a violent mob to reach defenseless House members and their staff with the real possibility they would have been maimed, killed and/or held hostage by these vicious fanatics who had shown no qualms against attacking even armed police in riot gear. And who continued advancing towards the House chamber even when they were aware the officer had drew his gun.

He did what he had to do; Babbitt's death was the result of her own criminal actions.

@boonon said
And you know this how.
Because the actual insurrectionists SAID they WOULD have killed Pence if they found him. She was trying to FKING INVADE the capitol building and NOBODY does that on MY watch and I would have done the same thing but maybe aim for legs or some such.

You are overwhelming me with details. This is really pretty simple. They could have arrested Ashli but killed her instead. She was unarmed so she was not a threat to anybody.

That is why sonhouse and suzi have to make up lies about cops being killed. Then when that was proven false they made up a fake cause of heart attacks and suicides. So now they want us to believe cops cannot handle stress. I have never heard of any claims being a cop is supposed to be stress free.

They really want us to believe killing her saved lives. But no cops died that day. None.
