Follow me please. It was my error to say the court, was the authority…..it was not a court, but actually the DOJ ( an authority). My apologies.
So, for our readers, here we have marauder making an issue out of a perfectly legal payment by the DOJ. WHY do you people do this. First, here is the fact.

This was a violent mob intent on reaching the House chambers a few feet from the doors they were smashing in with various weapons. The rioters were aware that the officer had a drawn gun, but Babbitt elected to jump through a broken window to lead the attackers to where House members and their staff were. That left the officer no choice but to use deadly force to.protect the lives of the people in the chamber.

I had no idea. I heard that the DOJ acted within the confines of their purview in overseeing the laws of this country.
Your post evidences one of your typical problems when posting.
You see, you are changing the subject. Whether the shooting was justified and whether the lawsuit was meritless are separate issues from whether the DOJ had the legal authority to settle it. The DOJ settles civil cases all the time. If you’re saying this particular settlement was illegal, what’s the legal basis for that claim?
And what in the hell does political reasoning have to with it? Everything ever done has a reason. Whew.
