The only exciting part of golf is when the ball goes into the spectators and they all scramble. Hey wait, it would be a good variation if all the spectators had to stand on the course and dodge golf balls.
I think you are on to something.
I played something similar on the few occasions I swung a club.
Although the "spectators" were not overly impressed!

I caught something on ESPN today - the Men's 10km swim. Lots of medium close up shots of arms flailing in surf... it went on and on and on...

I think League used to be boring when played by fat blokes in muddy swamps.
The league played in Aus & NZ is a fast and furious game.
(Still no match for Union though!)
Why is there two forms of rugby anyway? Especially in Aus with Aussie rules as well, how may games do you need a same shaped ball?

@Trev33

All you could see was bobbing heads and arms though in a mass of spray - couldn't work out who was who? ! 😕

The schism in Rugby is quite interesting - cannot think it has
happened in any other sport (just religions!). Originally it was
just professionals (league) and amateurs (union) but the rules diverged.

I think there were mutterings of unifying the codes a while
back but cannot see it happening now. In NZ the two camps
are quite antagonistic of each other!

But lets get to the sleepers...

tennis, darts (unless it's lawn darts lol), competitive hot dog eating, poker, video games, badminton, diving, equestrian, air pistol (ugh), marathon running, weight lifting, volleyball.

Eliminate them all lol

My take is that golf is the most dramatic.
1 man against the field. No blood or stress.
Pure talent, no one to rely on but yourself.
Self reliant, not unlike Republicans
Independent thinking and strategy...no huddles or hand signals
It is a lot like chess. Extremely mental.

Yeah it’s definitely mental
Hitting a ball with a stick for hours and days sometimes going around in a circle.
Having said that I watched the final round of the Open last week and that was proper man against the elements stuff and a local bloke came out on top so it has its moments.

Uhhhmm...Democrats golf too.
Let's not politicize the gentleman's sport.

The rest of your post is highly agreeable. Those who have never golfed, won't understand.
