Should God have made the tithe progressive?

Is God unjust, or is man?

The tithe was for the temple (Old Testament). The Church (New Testament) is supposed to distribute what they have according to need.

Tithing only continues because of churches with no other way of paying bills, or with greedy pastors.

That is your interpretation, but not everyone agrees.

So with the original set up, was God wrong? Should the top 1% have paid at least 50% and the bottom 3% paid nothing?

An answer to the question 'What do Matthew 19:21 and Luke 18:22 say/mean?' would be more interesting, unless you actually want to talk about US politics and not "God" or the NT.

Jesus had it all wrong, we are suppose to sell our possessions and give to the state so they can take the majority of it and give the left overs to those in need.

A non-facetious answer would be more interesting. I thought the Bible basically suggests that Christians leave the governing (and the taxing) to the governments. As a follower of Christ, to what degree do you comply with Matthew 19:21 and Luke 18:22?

Indeed, render to Obama what is Obama's, which is everything.

Yes, being our leader what he wants to do and what the government wants to do they will do. So if that means rounding up Christians and throwing them to the lions like Nero did then so be it.

The top 1% were running the churches.

You know, it's people like you and RJH that make non-Christians assume all Christians are idiots. Neither one of you do Christians any favors.
