So what? 500 years ago most people thought the world was flat, and there were only 5 planets in the universe. What's your point?

The difference, of course, being that when science is found to be wrong it corrects itself and moves on. As opposed to the mental and verbal gymnastics you are forced to lower yourself to in the "Legislating Morality" thread with Nemesio.

Based on the evidence available it made its best guesses. Those models were revisited when more data became available. Science is based on evidence. Religion is based on a single book, and will actively ignore evidence if it doesn't "fit".

Unfortunately, it not the perogative of all here to make use of their ability to think freely.

Now, please, provide empirical evidence.

So why can women not be priests or ministers in God's religions then?

It seems you cannot provide empirical evidence for evolution, either.

Science cannot prove God exists, but science proves God has to exist.

Human nature?
It's not human nature to think of God, it's a cultural and historical symbol.
You think of God because you've been taught to think of God, not because of some innate 'human nature'.

Despite the fact that the number of believers need not have any relationship to the truth of the belief, I'd like to ask you a question about your post anyway.

Who exactly are you calling "Christian"? The figure you quoted includes Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, 7th Day Adventists, Calvanists, Catholics, Pentecostals, and people who play with snakes among others.

I have found that most Christians restrict the number of "True Christians" to a much smaller set. For instance a few at RHP have cited the large number of people who claim to be Christian as evidence of Christianity's truth, and then at some later point have dismissed the numerous examples of self-professed Christians who have committed heinous crimes by denying the genuineness of their faith.

It's a double standard and obviously unacceptable. So where do you draw the line?

And if you were actually reading the thread you would rightly assign your label... unless, of course, you have the same pre-disposition as Nemmy.
