The Trinity is a very touchy subject with so many.

I personally am not convinced of the Triune Godhead concept. I have not seen any direct evidence of it in the bible. And every person I've asked--from the layman Christian to the bona fide teacher and Minister--has not given me a satisfactory answer so that I would be convinced.

All this bit about "It's a mystery that can't be fully understood," tells me that it should be reserved as an opinion.

This is the one and only teaching I have a disagreement with when it comes to my mentor RC Sproul.

Christ was the Son of God from the very beginning of our existence, the bible tells us that straight up. That tells me that the Son came to Earth as a separate entity.

I would LOVE for someone to convince me otherwise using Scripture but as many people who have tried and failed, I have become more and more entrenched in my conclusions.

When I fill out the survey online that tells you what religion you likely follow, Mormonism is near or at the top because of my lack of adherence to the Trinity concept.

Thing is, that's one of the few things I have in common with the Mormons so although we do have some key common ground, I won't be converting to Mormonism any time soon.

Suzianne, I like what you had to say and I'm glad to have come across you here!

You have warmed my heart and lifted a few stones from my shoulders.

By the way I love your iced tea! It's my fave!

Spend some time with some of them and you might just run screaming from the idea of joining their church.

I hate to stereotype but from the Mormon girls I knew in school and their families, it seems to be a very status-oriented denomination, which pretty much goes against the grain of what Christ taught.

I'll tell you what, you read up on paganism and the trinity first; I Googled over 1,000,000 sites discussing it in less than 0. There is agood book called "Who are you Lord" - if I can find it I'll send you a link.
Yes, I was brought up in the Baptist Church and I sang Holy, Holy, Holy
God in three persons. Blessed Trinity.

But I went through the same doubt you have and read about paganism,
Christmas, and Easter. Heard teaching against the Roman Catholic
Church. Attended other Protestant churches such as Methodist, Church
of Christ, and Church of God. Studied with the Later Day Saints (Mormans),
Jehovah's Witnesses, Seven Day Adventists, Worldwide Church of God,
and some Messianic groups seaching for the true church. I learned some
truth from each and discovered that all had a little error mixed in. I did
not always believe in the Trinity the way I do now. I guess after seeking
God for so long the Holy Spirit took pity on me. Anyway although I never
found an organized church that I could say, this is the true church, I found
people that were true Christians. I now accept the Trinity Doctrine as the
best representation of what the Holy Bible says about God, the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So I don't need to read your reference for I
have read and heard enough false teachings from that side of the wall.

It is obvious you have a naturalistic view of spiritual matters.
So it would probable do no good to explain anything to you.
I'll let you find out for yourself.

But when I did learn more about it, the more sense it made, given what I had read in numerous spots in the Bible and it did just fall together at that point. I do not claim a denomination, and I was not raised within a ...[text shortened]... like you need to coin a new phrase for what should be a noble cause.
I was wrong about you. I thought you were not really a women
but a demon masquerading as a Christian. πŸ˜€ But a demon
would never defend me. You sound like you may be a Christian
now, after all our disagreements. Christians can disagree on some
things.

Even though Christian we may be, we are still human and still able to err in a sometimes spectacular fashion.

And yes, we can still disagree on some things.

lol!

No, it's only because he and I have clashed on the small things we do disagree on.

I'm very liberal in my politics and my thinking. RJ is quite a bit more conservative. So as you can imagine, we've been around and around on a few topics.

The Lord is one.
I said I believe the three are distinct but not separate. Now let's consider.

First of all I did not say three what. I just said "the three".

The three ________ are distinct but not separate. I don't object to putting in the blank "Persons". But I would not press that word too far. I only would borrow it for communication.

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) put it well here:

"Not that I have the least pretension to fathom this divine mystery where all are God, all one God, God all three; yet the Father is revealed, the Son reveals, the Holy Spirit quickens and makes known ... I fear much human language on this. But I affirm that the only full revelation of the one true God is the revelation of Him in the Trinity. Our prayers rise up the same. Through Him (Christ the Son) we have access by one Spirit unto the Father."

Lol.

Will you really let him find out for himself or will he only "find out" when he changes his belief system to fit yours?

God, you're a hoot!

Come on RJ use some of that discernment, of course suzianne is a Christian. Agreement or disagreement is not the yardstick buy which Christians know each other; look at Paul and Peter.

I grant you this though, this is a tough place to make friends! But I've made several (good acquaintances) , both Christian and non-Christian.

People come here for very different reasons, that is for sure.
