Another thing you might want to try is the Wii. I play a lot of games,
like bowling, baseball, etc. with my grandson. It's about the only
exercise I get anymore, because if it is not fun, I don't do it. The
boxing game is good exercise for your shoulders. Try it! I think you
will like it.

I am not sure we got that game, I haven't tried it. We have Wii Play,
Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Madden NFL Football. The following
we also have but I haven't tried yet:
Wii Fit, Summer Sports 2, Celebrity Sports Showdown, Deca Sports 3,
Summer Atheletics The Ultimate Challenge, World Championship Atheletics,
NBA Jam. I don't know if any of these have any fencing on it or not or
if that is a separate game. Some of them have more than one game on
them and I have not come close to checking them all out. My wife likes
the bowling and doesn't want to try anything else. So that is the one we
play the most. I play some with my grandson to keep him happy and
occupied so he stays out of trouble. Oh yeah, I just got an exercise
game for myself since my doctor says I need to exercise more. I haven't
tried it yet because I need to charge up the battery for the balance action
board. The name of it is Jullian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2011. Jullian
Michaels was the woman trainer on the television show "The Biggest Loser".

If the gifts were not a part of the reward for wanting to serve God and please him, they would not be mentioned in the Bible for us to know about, would they?
Or is that not important?

Compared to God Himself, no I don't think they are that important.

Well that's ok for you. But I think they are. Mankind lost all the the original things he created for us, perfect bodies and a planet that would have given us all we could ever need and with a direct ability to communicate with God just as Adam did. We could have perfect health and could have lived forever.
The Bible, God's word, says we can have that again. Maybe that's not important to you but it is too me.
Again if it was something of no or very little importance then it would not be described in the Bible as a great hope for us all. I want what God wants for us. That is not being selfish if that's what is being implied here.

Never said it wasn't important at all, but don't spend time looking for the little
stuff when God has made Himself available to you. Why worry about where you
are going to be after you die when right now God is here, now? Why worry
about goodies you are going to be given, when the Giver of all good things
wants a relationship with now? You seem to be spending a lot of time worried
about the what comes next instead of what God has for you now?

Hummmm, didn't know I've been waisting time on that. But this is one of the reasons we put so much importance on teaching all we can earth wide. It's to tell what most don't know that the Bible promisses in the future. Life as God meant us to live it.
The Bible also says God has many good things planned for all that love and follow his few simple commands. I only hope we all can see them in person.
So if your plans are to go to heaven and see God, fantastic. Mine is to live on this earth as he did create it for humans.

about the here and now while you look forward to it.

Uhhhh, keep living on the earth. Where else would I go? This is the home God made for man. Is it not?

But the Bible says that the earth will be destroyed by fire and all the
elements will melt.
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the
heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed
with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up."
(2 Peter 3:10)

How do you explain this mystery?

clearly you need to read the scripture in its immediate context.

(2 Peter 3:5-10) . . .For, according to their wish, this fact escapes their notice, that
there were heavens from of old and an earth standing compactly out of water
and in the midst of water by the word of God;  and by those means the world of that
time suffered destruction
when it was deluged with water.

But by the same word the heavens and the earth that are now are stored up for fire
and are being reserved to the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly
men.

so the scriptures make it quite clear that there were a heavens and earth from old
that suffered destruction, and yet here we are. clearly it refers not to the literal
heavens and earth, but to the destruction of ungodly men. Oh and its not a mystery.
