So what's a good response for white after 1. d4 e5?
E.g.
1. d4 e5
2. dxe5 Qe7
3. Nf3 Nc6
4. Bf4 Qb4+
5. Bd2 Qxb2
6. Nc3
Not 6.Bc3? Bb4 7.Qd2?? Bxc3 8.Qxc3 Qc1 mate
6. ... Bb4
7. Rb1
and White is better since Black's queen is misplaced, e.g.
7. ... Qa3
8. Rb3 Qa5
9. a3

White's not behind in development. After 9.Qd2,Bxd2 10.Nxd2(covering the e-pawn as well) white has 2 pieces out vs black 1.But it is black to move so he'll develop his 2nd piece and I guess then it's completely equal.Indeed not exactly what you want from a gambit.
It's a shame cause it's an awesome opening if it weren't for that line 😞
1 Black Bishop + 1 Black Knight + 1 Black Rook (after taking) = 3
1 White Bishop + 0 = 1 (You could also count the pawn, but 3>2...)
I think black has a lead in development...

Take it, it's a free pawn!

Oh, it's called the Danish gambit. Dang, talk about screwing the name up. Hope I didn't insult any Danish, Dutch, or Scotch people.
1. d4 f5
and the scotch game is
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. d4
Afte rmost people had given up on it as equal for black, Kasparov trotted it out and showed there was lots of play based on whites better mobility and tempo. Then again, I figure Kasparov can make any opening look playable.
