I found a chess cartoon by Ken Reid a famous cartoonist.
Then three puzzles for you to solve. Not too tough I think.

The first was by composed by Korolikov and Mirtofanov in Moscow 1961.

White to play and win. The solutions are in the blog.

V. Korchnoi - F. Gheorghiu Phillips & Drew Kings London 1980

White played 47. Rc6 and the games was eventually drawn. Can you see a better move.

An easy one. White to play and mate in two moves. There is only one way to do it.

When playing over a game by Firouzja he played an obvious winning move
in the endgame. I found various RHP examples of similar wins getting missed.

Hi Geoff,
Entertaining as always.

I noticed that the diagram for the "can't move protected pieces" problem has one of White's rooks at b6 rather than b7.

HI David,

Changed it. Originally the fen was wrong in that diagram and did not print,
I did it from memory. Not good enough. Thanks.
