i have bought a chess program... cant remember what its called.. grandmaster i think... anyway.... just played it about 15 times, each time removing his rooks at the start and replacing my rooks with queens.... his rating about 2200+.... beaten me everytime...!

you gotta give credit to the program for that...

seconded! I would expect with those conditions to be beaten by a super GM maybe once every ten times(probably less) not an engine rated 2200.

Of course! with the conditions he stated you could make almost any moves during the game like sacking a couple queens for an attack and still be winning... yet he looses every time!

How would you know? Have you ever played a super GM? And how many Master players have you played and won (or drawn) with?

Also, chess engines are notoriously difficult to estimate the rating of. All the posted said was that the rating was "2200+" (note the plus) -- he didn't seem very familiar with the software, so it might play at a considerably higher level.

My real point here, however, is not to assess the remarks of the original poster, but to point out how very crude and pointlessly hostile the previous forum responses were.

he had two extra queens and the computer had no rooks that is a 28 point difference there probably is a forced mate that shouldn't be too hard to find after 15 tries at it.

He didn't have two extra queens, he replaced his rooks with queens. So his advantage was 20 pawns at most. (Although that's still a big advantage.)

Yes, so he got approximately 8 extra pawns for transforming his rooks into queens, plus 10 because the computer didn't have rooks.

I was wrong then its still a 12 pawn deficit 21 pawns equivalent on the first rank for the computer and 33 pawns equivalent on the first rank for the person.
