Dufrense and Lasker where guesses.

Reshevsky v Fischer I recalled from My 60 Games and an intro to one of
their games saying this was the delayed decider. (did not know the score.)

GP: "Dufrense and Lasker were guesses."

Dufresne is the correct spelling, but I don't dare try to pronounce it.

Lasker was a darned good guess; given the year and the calibre of the opponent, it could only have been him or Steinitz, I reckon.

You didn't recognize the word "quartgrip"--I presume you are familiar with the formation and how get a passer out of it, and that's what really counts.

Spot on with the two endgames; straightforward counting exercises.

My 60 Memorable Games--I knew you had that on your bookshelf. Easy one for you.

Cheers, moonbus

The Fischer vs Reshevsky match was not drawn - Fischer pulled out after 11 of the scheduled 16 games, hence he lost 10.5 - 5.5.

Shrug. You stick with formalities; I'll stick with results that happen on the board.
