CROSSWALK
Isn't that the American word for a pedestrian crossing, like SIDEWALK for footpath?

It's hard to get to the other side when you travel by foot.
This doesn't fit crosswalk, since then the crosswalk should remove the difficulty of the travel across a street. But I agree that crosswalk fits the letters. (And if cross is the first half of the word, there seems to be no other option).

The intended answer was CROSSWALK but I forgot this may only be an american term. It's the painted area on a busy city street that pedestrians use to cross.
