    How hot is it?

Too hot to have a war of words with Dive!

Now that is hot, getting close to 30C again.

I had a bad crash on it, totalled. I was banged up, road rash etc but okay. I never had another bike.
I never had a bad tumble.
But in 1980 I was doing 70mph plus tracking the line through a sweeping bend on the Somerset/Devon border on my Suzi GSX 250 when the front sprocket spun off its shaft causing the chain to jump off of the rear sprocket. Fortunately the rear wheel didn’t lock otherwise I would have been in a lot of bother.

I crashed into the front of a car - his fault - and landed on my back on his roof in about 1982. I remember doing a textbook judo breakfall and so was unscathed.

I had what was almost a nasty crash with another motorcyclist on a dirt road in Papua in 1993: blame 50-50. We both got up off the dirt, checked ourselves for damage, and then our bikes, shook hands and went our separate ways.

In 2010, I crashed into a rubbish skip on a dark backstreet when I swerved to avoid someone stationary and possibly doing something illicit in the middle of the road. I broke my collarbone - which still gives me gyp.

Bikes that big are serious things and potentially dangerous in inexperienced hands.

The biggest motorcycle I ever OWNED was a Suzuki GS75O in the mid-1980s. I had a spin on a Honda 1000 cc or 1100 cc once [for an afternoon]. I cannot remember what model it was.

“Kwaka” and “Suzi” are well known motorcycling abbreviations of “Kawasaki” and “Suzuki” who both made 2 stroke triple cylinder machines.
    Maybe among the illiterate British.

I've never heard those two words referring to motorcycles. 🙄

Why don’t you know anything about motorcycles?

Why do you alert posts by me which mention the abbreviation of motorcycle manufactures?

Why are you such a Karen?

Congratulations; when did you pass your test?

Metallic graphite rather than black, isn’t it?

In my opinion a much wiser choice than the Suzuki 600 you initially mentioned and a bike which will satisfy for years without you feeling the need to upscale. It’s still faster than most sports cars but it is fairly predictable, light and easy to manoeuvre off of the kick stand and push back from the kerb when in a tight space. Personally I prefer the naked look of the ‘Z’ over the ‘ninja’

For me, the problem with “sports bikes” is that they are designed to be raced, they want to be raced, it’s very tempting to “race” them and the throttle is a drug which is unforgiving! In the US speed limits are ridiculously low.

I’ll be getting a sports tourer, a used ST1300 which I linked to earlier which I’ll feel safer taking the precious one out on.

    Have fun.

Piss off, my link was fine.

Gold Wing my ass. I wouldn't buy a Honda.

In case you didn't get it the first time, I have a Kawasaki Ninja 400.

    What's a GW, an 1100?
