If you went to school in the UK post 1988 then grammar was taken off the syllabus. Not that they didn't teach grammar, but everything didn't have to be perfect. The emphasis was on communication, as sometimes strictly grammatical phrasing can be clumsy.
So what point am I making? err that what was it? sh;t umm ... oh yeah, nobody has good grammar anymore. Ironically, it was my old Grandma who used to give out about it.
"It's okay for a character in Eastenders, a cockney if you will, to have atrocious grammar" she would often whine, "but a newscaster?"
