Since it seems the previous generation always hates the next generation's music: do any of you with children find yourselves hating your children's (or nieces, nephews, grandchildren's) music? Or do you dislike young-people music in general?
I have 5 year olds and they're into video-game renditions of pop song, which is apparently a thing on YouTube.
The first actual pop-song my twins liked is this song from the 90's by Eifel 65 called "I'm Blue" (da-ba-dee, da-ba-die). That was because YouTubers would splice video of Sonic the Hedgehog (a blue video game character) along with the music.
Most recently they like a song by Imagine Dragons called "believer", one of the most ubiquitous songs ever made. While I don't hate the song I am tired of hearing it, even before the kids started liking it.
But that doesn't really count. When they become teenagers we'll see if I become the old man shouting "that's not music!"

That's a tough call since young people's music ranges broadly from soft rock, girl bands, and mellow to software generated heavy metal and rap. Some is pretty good IMHO, while some I can do without.

I do hate a lot of what's in the charts these days, because it's unsophisticated, samey, made for a quick commercial success and to a formula. Also: Autotune needs to be taken into a back alley and shot five times.
I still wouldn't say, as a blanket statement, that I hate the music of Da Yoof Deze Days, for at least two reasons:
- There is still good music being made, it just gets lost in the dross very easily because the dross is easier to market;
- Some children - don't know how many of them, but a noticable percentage at least - do have wider tastes than that, and are willing to listen to better music than what's now in the charts.
@vivify saidmy daughter is musical like me and we have similar taste, my son who is a bit younger is a bit more grungy and although we do agree a bit more now he has grown up a bit and he has bought me some cds that I have enjoyed , recently wet leg &warpaint.

@shallow-blue saidI agree w you that there is a lot of commercial fluff out, insipid fad boy bands w no musical talent. Rihanna on the other hand has a fine voice and musical ideas.
