I use IE and have been since I ever used windows.. and can tell you total amount of virus I've been infected by.. 0.
But I always keep it updated.. I never click yes to the porno links.. I don't have a popup stopper installed.. as these are the things virus writers exploit.
Edit: I used these methods for security..
1: a firewall
2: IDS (intrusion detection system)
3: file integrity
I do not have a virus scanner Installed on my two machines or laptop.. But I do have virus scanner installed on my parents comp.
(As they're more likely to catch virus from somebody in their address book. So need protection).
I do not have one installed on my server or DAW as they have major impact on performance.
Originally posted by CenterNutIn other words, you FOUND no viruses etc. Doesn't mean you didn't/don't have any.

And what "porno" links? Should there be any?
Your final point is just daft.

Fine. I shan't waste any more of my valuable time.
Talking about wasting time.. seams to me you do alot of that.. you dont play chess here.. well you do but like 1 move per week. U been here almost a year and played 25 games. If you was to play as much as you talk might even be at top of players table,.
Originally posted by CenterNutI've lost 2 games out of 25 here. One to an engine, allegedly. If, like most, I played far more frequently I would, like most, lose more often. I play to win. Not to break game number records.

Additional: 8 months isn't 'almost a year'.

These PC questions always guarentee the emergence of the psuedo experts.
It is impossible to argue a generalised superiority of any of the OSs, and anyone who does doesn't have a thorough knowledge of the PC world.
For me, I like Apple, but I like FreeBSD better (Mac is FreeBSD under the hood). It suits my purposes better than anything else. I don't mind XP, but there is too much arse for my liking.
My grandmother is quite happy with her Windows XP, Netscape browser/messenger and Microsoft word. That is all she needs and she has no issues whatsoever, and I wouldn't recommend any other system to her. To say she has gone to the dark side and bollocks and cheese is the relm of dickheads.
Both Intel and AMD chips are very good, but to the non hardware engineer, the differences are irrelevant (don't let anyone say any different). The engineers themselves argue over the pros and cons. The market is so tight, there is no real allowance for huge differences (otherwise one would very quickly lose).
All this arguement over OSs/platforms is just medication for SCS - use what suits you, not what some smelly four-eyes suggests.
BTW, apple bought the idea of a windows GUI from Xerox, so they weren't that ingenius either.
