In the last 12 hours since the summit Trump said, in reply to a journalist asking about military consequences of NK not adhering to the agreements, that Seoul had a population of “28 million”. “It’s right there” he said, presumably implying that it was easy to blast to kingdom come.

“28 million” hmm I thought 9.8 million.

Edit: isn’t 28 million nearer the entire population of NK?

He must feel embarrassed when he get his facts wrong like that.

He said "we think we have big cities, NY has a population of 8 million, but Seoul is 28 million" (pretty much what he said).

This is correct.

You could slice the pie even slightly differently and I am sure the numbers could go up or down but yeah, this is generally the truth of it and as a Seoul resident I'd have said something similar.

"This megacity is the largest city proper in the developed world and the Seoul Capital Area is the second largest metropolitan in the world with more than 25.6 million people, which is half of all the residents in the country. The estimated population within the city limits for 2016 is 10.29 million."

This ass making never gets old...LOL

Trump missed the Seoul metro area population by a couple million. This belongs on the front page headlines.

Actually comparing NYC city proper population to Seoul metropolitan area population is misleading.

NYC metropolitan area is closer to 20 million.

Metropolitan areas are usually subject to misinterpretation.

I've read that Mexico city had a population of 40 million, although that has since been drawn back.

It’s all over news just look it up, it was a press conference.

It was pretty much verbatim what he said.

Right.

There are a lot of issues with how we compare the populations and consider to be the metro area.

I think the real measure is the contiguousness of the city.

But then ti can even get to be a bit more vague... For instance, you can ride from Seoul to Cheonan, Gapyeong, or Chuncheon on the subway/light rail system, but Cheonan, Gaypeyong, and Chuncheon are generally not considered a satellite cityy.
