However one approaches the issue of migrants, the right-wingers will find something to whine and cry about. They'll excoriate migrants for "sticking together" with their "own kind," but that very hostility directed toward them induces migrants to do precisely that. The weak-minded always have their scapegoats, suited for persecution no matter what the occasion or reason.

But Canada is too small for this type of behavior.
We can't afford anything and our unemployment rate is through the roof.
Immigrants only hiring their own isn't viable in Canada because the economy is too small.
Our homeless population is entirely white with a few blacks.
Unemployment for adults is at 10 percent but they say 7, they always say 7 when it gets high.
Unemployment for white youth is 30 percent.
Why do we have immigrants if we have unemployment?
You should only bring in immigrants when you have job vacancies.

Every business opened by immigrants in Canada only hires their own kind. Nobody considers that racist but if a white person did that y'all would be protesting and screaming racism.
An immigrant that becomes hiring manager for a big chain company hires their own kind more than anything. Walmart and Tim Hortons have been called out for this publicly.

I don’t think anyone is claiming that immigrants are the root cause of America’s housing shortage. The question is whether adding millions of people creates additional demand for housing. Of course it does. Geez
In fact, the latest research from Brookings specificallly estimates that housing demand from the recent immigrant surge raised rents by 1.4% to 1.6%. I looked it up.
. In a housing market already short of supply, every additional household competing for a limited number of homes puts additional pressure on prices and rents. Duh.
And the fact that some refugees are housed in camps or barracks doesn’t refute that. Those people still need housing eventuallly , and the public resources used to house them don’t disappear simply because the accommodation isn’t a conventionalapartment.
If you disagree, then show me the evidence that the additional population creates no additional housing demand or price pressure. That’sr a very different claim from saying they’re not the “root cause.”
Snd housing markets are local. An empty house in a rural community in, say, Montana doesn’t solve a shortage of apartments in New York, Chicago, Denver, or another high-demand metropolitan area. Urban Institute research likewise emphasizes that housing shortages and affordability are fundamentally local-market problems, not simply a question of whether vacant housing exists somewhere in America.
