I wonder what is so wrong with just being fair to other people regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or any other bogus criteria people use to treat people differently. Is that really too much to ask?

I read that post, but unlike many on this forum, I refrained from commenting because I know nothing about her.

"Reaping the whirlwind" is a great metaphor for these cases. Many women get treated in a punitive way sometimes I think in order to discourage others from speaking out.

And all of us who stand up and say, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!" get called 'strident bitches', or worse. I say if we're going to be mistreated merely for being women, then we need to own it, and be unapologetic. After all, we're already PAYing for that right, at least.

Strange thing, though. Since I've taken training to defend myself, this is way less scary than it used to be. I find it helps if you can laugh it off and/or turn it around and make the guy feel like a pathetic loser for trying to intimidate you.

That's idiotic. Why else do men wear suits to business meeting? Can a man wear shorts and a tank-top to business meeting?

Both men and women have to worry about they wear to business meetings.

Can you give a personal example of this? I imagine you have a story or two, since you said "all of us", meaning all women.

EDIT: Because of the inflammatory nature this topic can have, let me be clear: I'm not asking out of some "gotcha" type of questioning. I'm not asking because I doubt your experiences, and I'm "calling you out" on it, nor am I looking to rebut your statement. I'm legitimately asking for your personal account of a time where you were chastised for standing up for yourself as a woman.
