@kevcvs57 saidSo is it OK to "invade a sovereign state" as long as it's not a "neighboring one"?
Lol “Russia’s misfortune” at least they are not burdened with having their children murdered and their villages, towns and cities turned to rubble. Hopefully they continue to suffer the “burden” of sanctions until they leave Ukraine at which point the oligarchs arrested billions can pay for its reconstruction.
It is good news for the Venezuelan’s though, who, to the best of my knowledge have not invaded a neighbouring sovereign state in any meaningful way at least.
I never remember you complaining about Afghan or Iraqi or Serbian or Libyan "children murdered" or "their villages, towns and cities turned to rubble." And US, UK and other Western oligarchs were never arrested and forced to pay for those countries' reconstruction.
@mott-the-hoople saidhttps://sciencing.com/average-daily-wind-speed-24011.html
and when the wind doesnt blow enough to turn the turbines?
In the U.S. the average daily wind speed is 10-19 kilometers per hour. The wind speed needed to power a turbine is only 6 kilometers per hour:
https://www.nyserda.ny.gov/-/media/Files/Publications/Research/Biomass-Solar-Wind/NY-Wind-Energy-Guide-1.pdf
So even a beautiful sunny day would have enough wind to power a turbine.

@vivify saidare you really stupid enough to think the wind blows every day? and the wind blowing when it does blow has to be exactly where the turbines are located. you libs sure are gullible

Wind power now generates 8.4% of us electricity and the share is growing rapidly:
"Total annual U.S. electricity generation from wind energy increased from about 6 billion kilowatthours (kWh) in 2000 to about 338 billion kWh in 2020. In 2020, wind turbines were the source of about 8.4% of total U.S. utility-scale electricity generation. "

@mott-the-hoople saidWhat I gave you was the average *daily* wind speed. Why do you think stats for *daily* wind speeds exist? Is it because wind is rare?

Would anyone waste time and money on wind turbines or windmills if wind wasn't a frequent occurrence? Was this really the best argument you could invent?
Wind speeds of a mere 3.7 miles per hour (6km) is all that's needed to power a turbine.

@no1marauder saidI did condemn the Iraq invasion. I didn’t think I’d have to explain this to you but Libya was a no fly zone and Serbia was carried out on behalf of the UN because Serb factions had set up death camps and massacred whole towns. Stop pretending that they are in anyway similar to what’s going on in Ukraine, it is puke inducing.
So is it OK to "invade a sovereign state" as long as it's not a "neighboring one"?

Afghanistan was the only NATO invasion and it was after you invoked article 5 of the NATO constitution because the US was attacked on 9/11.
Perhaps you can pinpoint exactly when Ukraine attacked Russia?or exactly when the despot running Ukraine started to massacre his own people? Your twisting and stinging like an electric eel is having no effect on reality whatsoever.
You know you could leave this level of analysis to MB I’m not why you’ve decided to cut his grass for him.
@kevcvs57 saidStop pretending that the intervention in Libya was for anything but the overthrow of Gaddafi. This was a war of aggression under the fig leaf of "protecting civilians" (a rationale Putin has disingenuously claimed as well): https://www.internationalcrimesdatabase.org/upload/documents/20140916T170326-ICD%20Brief%204%20-%20Rijke.pdf

Stop pretending that the NATO bombing in 1998 was authorized by the UN.
Actually, NATO invoked Article V on October 4, 2001 (https://www.nato.int/docu/speech/2001/s011004b.htm) but nothing in that invocation required NATO countries to send forces to assist the US invasion and most didn't ("Although some NATO allies, including Canada, Britain and Germany, chose early on to contribute special operations forces (SOF) and, later, other military assets to the U.S. combat mission in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom, which lasted from 2001 to 2014), they did so independent of NATO headquarters and command structures."https://www.lawfareblog.com/five-myths-about-nato-and-afghanistan
These are lies unless you are so uninformed that you are ignorant of the truth.
All these actions, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine, violated international law. Your reasoning that it is OK for Western countries to do so and kill, but not for Russia to do the same is hypocritical and monstrous.

That happened in Iraq and Libya. Fallujah and Sirte. They bombed Sirte in Libya so much the building looked like they were Swiss cheese. Take a look.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2049108/Libya-wars-stand-Sirte-Pictures-city-shelled-smithereens.html
Were the people of Sirte unworthy victims? Why are Ukrainians worthy victims and Libyans and Iraqis were unworthy victims? Explain that to me.

Ask the people in separatist-held areas of Donbas. The war in the Donbas started more than five years ago and has cost in excess of 13,000 lives. I never hear about that on the corporate news media. Propaganda by omission.

@vivify saidHe probably believes that wind turbines function like coal stations and need a long run-up. Also probably hasn't heard of things like grid energy storage and pumped storage.
