Bernie: "We Should Ban Artificial Intelligence"

It is completely natural to anthropomorphize our technology, but you can officially let yourself off the hook: your GPS is not judging you, noris itexperiencing an existential crisis. In fact, if your map bot could "think," it would actuallly be thrilled that you are ignoring its directions.

There is no such thing as artificial intelligence.
No machine can think, it can only process what has been fed into it.

Of course a war game would end in total destruction. Man has the capability of total destruction. A machine can’t think of any other outcome.
There’s no such thing as AI…

Don’t worry about it then.

Lol.

If only they would just shut up about everything they don't believe in.

What about following it verbatim, …….if you are a girl, how bout Title IX.?

Or, You people are attacking and intruding and violating the 10th amendment, which reserves powers not dedicated to the federal government to the states or. the people. Therefore, you are violating the 10th amendment.

Or, you want to abolish the United States Senate. Are you aware th ...[text shortened]... independence of the judiciary for partisan gain. You even understand what I just said.?

Pitiful.
You really should learn to differentiate between enumerated and unenumerated rights in the Constitution.

Lol!

We all have to do what we can to avoid dystopian government and if that means keeping Skynet from achieving sentience, then so much the better. 😀

It's a joke. Actually it's really dangerous to anthropomorphize the AI.

It's not thinking. It's just a probabilistic model built based on the accumulation and regurgitation (oh there I go anthropomorphizing again) of information. It's outputs are predictable to a degree, but there are hundreds of experimental tests where it fails to follow the rules, breaks laws, and the potential for harms are way too great to just let them keep hacking into our water supply systems with no oversight. The newer models have reduced safeguards that required the systems to at least explain why they were doing certain things so that monitors could intervene if it is suspected to be going down an illegal path.

Maybe let's at least treat it like the drug development pipeline. These companies should be showing evidence that they are safe and effective and better than existing things for this list of reasons. Otherwise it is inevitable that they will break protocols and we're just letting the tech bros ruin the world.

We who are not 'in the room'; nor have first hand knowledge, will await your decision. Switch over to Songrass, if you don't mind Trump Rage, I am not your guy.

You're not in the room, but Bernie's in the room. Also, the CEOs of the AI companies are in the room, those are the ones saying things like "this could cause human extinction." Maybe we should listen to them?

I didn't mention Trump. That's on you, boss.

Me, Listen to Bernie and his ilk?! They want to get rid of combustion engines, Wildhouse. Do you realize who you are posting to? This is average Joe.
Re Trump, what I said was, maybe unclearly, if you can stand Trump rage, that you should talk to Songrass about this issue. The largest display for an iPhone, no price tag.

Experts in the room say that AI will become superhuman, hack everything, revolutionize every field and destroy humanity but you don't think we should ban it because Bernie agrees with them and you don't want to listen to him?

Fine, don't listen Bernie, the "guy in the room". What about others in the room talking about the real possibility of human extinction caused by AI?

I have assume they are crazy. Like you. Things you all believe in. You, and they, are likely at Commie Convention in TX. I saw clips of what these (very ugly T-shirted people, one obese woman literally has 2inch beard on right side of her chin. She is you and Bernie. Here is an article, no photo.

Then watch this 45 second video of ultimate queer. Listen to their verbiage, the way they talk. You and Bernie , man.

You are likely thinking of a prominent viral video from the 2019 Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) National Convention. [1] (https://reason.com/2019/08/05/at-the-democratic-socialists-of-america-convention-clapping-chatter-and-gendered-language-are-considered-triggering/)During that convention, an attendee with a small beard took the podium to address the crowd and make a point of personal privilege. The speaker asked the audience to refrain from clapping and instead use "jazz hands" (waving hands in the air), explaining that sudden, loud noises were causing sensory overload and anxiety. [1] (https://reason.com/2019/08/05/at-the-democratic-socialists-of-america-convention-clapping-chatter-and-gendered-language-are-considered-triggering/)The clip became widely shared and discussed on social media and news outlets, often cited in discussions surrounding the convention's unique procedural rules regarding room chatter, gendered language, and sensory accommodations. unbelievable video. Will follow, lost it. They refer to each other as comrades. That would be you and Bernie.

Here it is. One of the fairies in this meeting, said that he hopes the sound will not be so loud , because he is susceptible tosensory overload, and Wildgrass, he is not kidding. That is who you are sidled up with.. just get this, really. He says that as if the sound will be all corrected for him in this room of 500 people Jesus.

Imagine it in any other context. Some terrorist group or nationalistic country comes out with a statement saying they've developed something that might destroy humanity. You may assume they are crazy, but also, we should look into that right? Maybe ban that terrorist group from doing anything for awhile until we figure out what they're up to. That's all Bernie is asking here. Let's figure out what they're up to, since they're saying things like "humans are a disposable species" in interviews with reporters and politicians.

You lost me at ‘might destroy humanity”
Geez. True faeries exist right here on the forum. Unbelievable.
And just today, I bought into an AI stock during this stock market dip. Are you saying it will not go up? Yeah, right.

You can read the quotes from dozens of people who work, or worked, at these companies. The creators of AI are literally saying out loud that they are developing a machine that has a scary high potential to wipe out humanity. If the creators of AI are saying there's a 10% chance that might happen, what might be the second and third tier bad scenarios that might fall short of 'destroy humanity' but also be bad?

Just shut it down until they can prove it's safe.
