"Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" while unnervingly gay and bizaare sounds beautiful. I like Dury's voice, especially when he speaks French or verbally plays with British accents (maybe that's just his regular voice), but I listened to "Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll" and "Roll Over and Make Love With Me" and I was not impressed.

Does this band have any other good songs?

Here's a particularly good recording of it:

What kind of an accent does Dury have? That's not Cockney, but I don't know the names of any other English accents.

'Reasons to be Cheerful'. Maybe.

You're better off with Devo.

Ian Dury came from Harrow, went to school in High Wycombe -- isn't that where Sicilian Smaug comes from? -- so I guess it's a Buckinghamshire accent.

He doesn't qualify as cockney.

I'm not having luck finding [Buckinghamshire accent] on youtube.

I particularly like the way he says "gardens" and "slowly", dragging out the vowels.

"Cheerful" sounds good too in "Reasons to be Cheerful"

People talk about a 'Bucks' accent:

But that might be a thing of the past. Hope it works.

The "Ron Hockley" one sounds just right. So it's a "Bucks" accent then.

EDIT - Not on youtube either.

I don't know why (too much Biffa Bacon?) but the Geordie accent's probably my favourite:

I can't find a decent South African one. Boring accent anyway 🙂

The authenticity of many accents on YouTube is disputed ...

Your judgement is impeccable, master.

Can you explain to uzless the difference between listening to recorded music and attending a live show? I'm momentarily crippled by contempt.
