@Very-Rusty said1436 is your current rating. Your yearly average is lower than that, showing that tournament play hasn't deflated your average rating.
@Ghost,
We can look at it in different ways, and my average is just that an average not my playing Strength which is a well known fact. This 1436 average you are talking about is including Tournament games where I am playing much higher rated players with little to now chance of winning which in turn is going to lower my average rating.
Again if they were ...[text shortened]... h people try things in and figure you have an accurate average rating, IMPOSSIBLE, my friend.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidYet, I have beaten you, moonbus and Trevor. Doesn't that mean my average is not correct, or that I am better than that? You can't get an average rating combining Tournaments and Clan Challenge games!!!

@Very-Rusty saidIt balances out over the year. (That's why it is an average).

For example, the single win you had over me is balanced out over the year by the 10 defeats.
@Very-Rusty saidDo you play more players rated lower than you, than higher in these tournaments that raise your rating more than those hurting you?

Once again you can't put Clan Challenge and Tournament games together and think you're going to get a proper average, no one plays the same amount of games! IMPOSSIBLE to find an average when you are talking about Tournament games which people use to practice opening and defenses on, and Clan challenge games where there is more serious play.
I Don't see how you could possibly think you are going to get an accurate average from the two different Tournaments!!!

@mike69 saidDo you see where I play lower than me? Do you play lower than yourself, of course you do, I am one of them you have played, you going to try and get an average from that?

Look at your own average rating and the rating you are playing at. I don't want to embarrass you by telling it to everyone, just making a point.

@Very-Rusty saidAll games should be taken seriously.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidSo you say Ghost, Some of us like trying things in Tournament games, we are just not as good at the game as you are. So we try things to see what works and what doesn't. Perhaps when I get to be your level, which I doubt will every happen then I will think differently. Until then, I will continue to use the Tournament games to try things in whether you agree or don't so long as I am playing within the Site Rules that is all that is important.

@Very-Rusty saidWhy not try out things in unrated games? Why tournaments?

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidTournaments are stronger games, if you played in enough of them you would know that. No one cares in an unrated game at all. Or maybe I should say almost no one, I am sure you do!!! π

The aforementioned is my Profile page, do you think my average rating is correct??? Numbers don't always tell the truth, that is why it is so important for Clan Leaders to know the true ratings of players they play against. That of course my friend takes work.
Ratings can change from year to year look at my rating in the past 90 days 1198, yes that is correct 1198? No where near my real average rating. Much has to do with how a player is feeling, age can also be a factor, just ask any of us that have hit the 70 age mark!!! π
-VR
@Very-Rusty saidWell, yes, as we are talking about a yearly average to determine playing strength.
Ghost lets Be accurate here: Do you think 1436 is close to my average rating? In fact you are saying it is lower than that!!! π
So your current rating of 1436 is slightly higher than your yearly average rating of 1388.
What part of that do you disagree with?

@Very-Rusty saidIn tournaments the ratings are mixed as you mentioned, do you understand now? I know I’m much better than my rating, so it doesn’t bother me, unlike youπ. I get bored and lose interest quickly because people move so slowly and I only look a few seconds. Play me as fast as I move non stop and see how long you lastπ.

@mike69 saidMike, not to embarrass you but look at the games we have played, you haven't faired out very well. π

We are both quite aware my average rating isn't 1388, I don't know why you are tying to push that, and if done that way not many ratings would be accurate at all. Maybe yours as you tend to stay in 1800's most of the time. π
I've beaten you, but that doesn't mean I am anywhere near your rating. I once did something to prove I could manipulate my rating by playing 600 games at once and had my rating up to 1835 just to prove ratings could be manipulated easily.
I would never try that little trick again as it was hard not to time out in any games. I don't know how the Fox and others do it, and maintain a good rating.
