I've been joining a few tournaments corresponding to my rating (1900 up). However another player with a rating far below the limits (his rating being 1700) joined too - every single tournament. How come? Is there a way to bypass the rating limits of any tournament?

The qualifying rating to enter tournaments is the tournament entry rating or T.E.R shown on your home page. This can differ from the current rating which is what I suspect you're looking at for the other player

So there's an overall rating and a specific TER as you say. Didn't know, I got it, thanks. .
