I'm very happy that you don't have to shell out on another couch, as I've heard that the Euro crash in Greece has forced three piece suite prices sky high in Glasgow.
On a happier note, I'm just so glad that we won't have to be destroyed by Germany.
🙂
PS send my commiserations to 'wifey' 😛
Wow! All this because the worst of the two teams lost? Had England won it would have been a hollow victory, a Pyrrhic one at best, although I still think Italy will be ousted in their semi. I wonder what Rooney was thinking of? It could not have been the game. He looked slow, uninterested, reverted to 2010 form. He was not the only one. Andy Carrol transformed back into the pumpkin he is. I was mightily impressed with Hodgson's Italian! I understand the man speaks five languages! I wonder what might have been had Lampard et al not been hurt. England had plenty of opportunity to make Pirlo eat his words but did not really seem to want to win.

That said, I'm still left wondering why the Liverpool man in the middle and the Chelsea man at the back both did sterling jobs in all four games, but yet again the Manchester Utd "talisman" failed to not only live up to an over-blown billing but struggled to even break into a jog. Rooney was chronically poor in South Africa and invisible (apart from the tap-in) in these two games. In fact the Man Utd front men failed as a unit across the front.
The post that was quoted here has been removedYes you are correct, both fields of battle did not prove to be advantageous for the
facilitation of knights. Many of the fallen knights of Agincourt were found with wounds
to the head as if they had been pulled to the ground and a sharp implement pierced
through their visors, was it a war crime, well, was it not the practice to ransom such
individuals off? This is exactly my point, the English have lost their Englishness, their
sense of etiquette, manners and sense of fair play. Class distinctions have always
been more pronounced in England than in Scotland where partly because of the clan
system, partly because of socialism and a loathing of pretence we enjoy an
egalitarian spirit, the rich living, 'cheek by jowl', with the less fortunate in the past
although its becoming more polarised now and if I am not mistaken
Celtic women have always enjoyed greater equality than their Anglo Saxon
counterparts, from antiquity.

the quarters and were shown up to be the mediocrity that they are, as soon as the
englanders accept this incontrovertible fact it may help to dissipate their delusions of
grandeur, but i doubt it. My only regret is for Roy Hodgson, he is such an excellent
human being and a gentleman that it pains me to see him this way.
Originally posted by divegeesterIndeed Rooney was quite the disappearing act, but certainly was not alone. Terry proved his worth time after time. Had it not been for Terry Italy might have scored several. I was not at all impressed by Carrol. Indeed England looked dangerous then ran out of steam. It really baffles me that a league as great as EPL cannot muster a better national team. Italy is not highly rated, but certainly do seem to know their football, played to their strengths and other than Balotelli seemed to have at least a modicum of ideas. Balotelli for all his talent looked like a peewee leaguer not yet polished and attempting numerous long range shots because of lacking ideas!
