My point is that the mission of God was to bring his Son into the world to save all of mankind. He came to save those who died before him and those after. This was the primary objective and necessitated the birth of the Jewish nation to usher in the coming of the Messiah. What is worse, physical death or spiritual death? In terms of the Christian faith their is nothing worse than eternal death. This is what Christ came to do and would not have happened if not for the preperation that men like Moses and Joshua.

Even before the creation of the world when Lucifer first rebelled against GOD, the plan was made by GOD that he would show Lucifer that he(GOD) could do more with a weak species of humans who obeyed him, than he could do with the most beautiful angel who disobeyed him.
Humans were created so that the love of GOD could be manifested within us and we would be a suitable offering to his son the Christ as a token of his love. Christ will, in return, give all of his faithful ones back to his father because Christ loves GOD the fater, and we as reborn spirits will be ushered into eterniny.

If you are referring to the Exodus from Egypt, you would know that those people died because of their unbelief. After all the miracles GOD did for them, parting the Red Sea and making Manna(bread) Fall From The Sky, they still rebelled against God and went on worshipping false Gods of gold and iron. The Lord Almighty then allowed them to wander around in the desert for forty years so that the rebellious generation was killed and the new generation inherited the promised land, Israel. Even Moses didn't get to enter the promised land but at the top of a mountain he was able to look down upon it. Then he died.
