@galveston75 saidIf "no one could answer" these questions about the amount of water there is in the Earth's 'ecosystem' and where it is now, what traction do your beliefs in the supernatural have pertaining to these scientific matters? There seem to be no facts about water in amongst the things you are trying to say about water.
You are asking me a question that no one could answer, so I'm asking you one that no one could answer unless you actually know?
@fmf saidI do not have the proof of how many gallons of water the earth has on it's surface, under ground or in the atmosphere that was used in the flood or here today. Neither do you have the proof that the flood did not happen.

All the water that was on the earth when Jehovah put it there is still here. The bible clearly says that before there was dry ground, the water covered the entire planet. no doubt the reason for that was to cool the planet so that land or crust would eventually form for you to live on. In order for that to happen some of the water naturally settled in lower areas. Much of the water evaporated up in the atmosphere to form the cloud layer that covered the whole planet just as the bible says. The rest of the water soaked into the ground which supplied water thru springs to give life to all the life Jehovah created here.
The complete cloud cover overhead would have made a hot house affect over the entire planet which is proven by both plant life and animal life that has been found in very cold latitudes frozen. Life that would never be able to live there with today's climates.
So now you have the flood. For there to be rain for 24 hours for forty days one cannot even start to grasp how much rain that was. So no need to ask me the question of how many gallons that could have been.
The bible says it covered the highest elevation by 15 cubits or a little over 20'. The bible does not say what the highest elevation was on the earth at that time. But chances are it may have not been anything like today's mountains because earlier with Adam God told him to cultivate the entire earth and subdue it. With today's earthly features with it's extremes, that would be impossible.
So now with the tremendous weight of all the water that has come from the sky for forty days and the massive amounts of turbulence that had to happen as thinner areas of the earths crust sinking and other areas rising, we now have those extremes that makes the earth not able to produce the food it would have been able to originally and it now made many parts of the earth dangerous with the upheaval of the plates causing earthquakes, volcanoes, deserts, frozen areas and climate extremes and also with full and dangerous sun exposure that we are really not supposed to be exposed too. Also with a much thicker atmosphere with the added thick cloud layer that was designed by Jehovah then, it would have added much more friction that would no doubt keep all meteors from reaching the surface of our home.
We were designed to live forever on a planet that he says will be here forever. The earth as we see it now cannot do that very well especially with humans sinning and ruining it more daily. Soon he will have to step in and correct it and bring it back to the paradise he intended it to be.
@galveston75 saidThere have undoubtedly been millions of floods throughout Earth's history. Just as undoubtedly, primitive peoples - seeing water as far as the eye could see, would have thought that the floods that they were experiencing were covering the entire Earth. There is no onus on me to prove that such floods did not happen.

@galveston75 saidWhat "tremendous weight" of water does the sky have the capacity to hold? At the moment, 0.0009% of the Earth's water is stored "in the sky".

@galveston75 saidHave you ever lived in the tropics or near the equator? Have you ever visited in the monsoon season?

@fmf saidWhat does that have to do with or even start to compare with a 24 hours a day, 40 day straight period of rain and as the bible says all the underground springs also opening up? What is your point?

So this is (((( 1 )))) cloud of average size that would probably empty itself out of rain in a couple hours at best. So now if this one cloud continually rained for 40 days non stop, well figure that one out yourself.
Now think really big and figure out if the entire sky from pole to pole was filled with this said average type cloud and it dumped for a continuous 40 days........Well there ya go!
@fmf saidOf course there have been. I've been thru a couple myself. The point with you is you don't care much for the bible so I would expect you to say the flood of the bible is nonsense. Nothing new there.....

@galveston75 saidThis 'answer' of yours does not address what I have put to you.

@galveston75 saidThe point is: the reason 'worldwide flood' mythologies would have developed among primitive peoples, with no way of communicating with humans elsewhere in the world, is not surprising.
