The answer, as is made clear several times in the New Testament, is: only insofar as it improves their lives as Christians, not to the extent of making them ornery, particular, and hateful of their neighbours. Because - as it's put most succinctly and best, I think - the law exists for humanity's sake, humanity does not exist for the law.

My point is that it's the racist part everyone is glossing over, here.
If you think racism is okay, then apparently you do need some lessons in morality. Calling someone a bastard isn't even a moral issue, it's just that some people get their knickers in a twist over it. You may be "offended" by my language, but I'm offended by his racist remarks. Which is the bigger moral offense? No, it's not my language, spanky.
