Christians also believe in dooms-day, don't they? Perhaps not at 2012, but still eventually? Then why not 2012?
Some scientist do too.

If I meet someon ...[text shortened]... % of the worlds population believe in God. I accept that what you find "weird" may differ.

It (Dec 21) is not the end of the world. Well it's the end of the world for the people that die that day but for the rest of us life will continue, it merely marks certain transitions and certain changes that are long overdue.

It is that date for me already.

I don't think I live until the end of the world date according to scientists. 🙂
It will be the year 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 give or take a few years. But the year the present doomdayers believe in will be 21 of december 2012.

I will laugh the 22nd of december this year at anyone really thinking that the doomsday is near.

It will be heaven on earth when all christians are gone.

Edit: No I don't mean that. I'll change it to:
It will be heaven on earth when all fundamentalists are gone.
Many christians are really friendly. As Jesus intended them to be. Others... fundamentalists... well...

I'm with divegeester on this. i dont like all this negative doomsday talk is all.
So yes, some fundamentalists are just propagating their own demise.
I believe the decisions we make change the future. I dont care what religion or non religion you're are from. This planet has great problems that need to be overcome.
Until this happens, we are all in the same boat together.

As the holy Bible states, no man knows the day or the hour, so the scientists
could be far off on their date too. The point I was trying to make is that the
idea agrees with the second law of thermodynamics that every thing is
running down and there will eventually be an end. I believe it is up to God
when this end comes.

How many doomsday predictions have been made so far in the last 2000 years?
It would make interesting if not pathetic reading.

I actually found one link, there are many, it seems:

There are many false prophets in the world as the Holy Bible predicted
there would be. These people are out to get followers for themselves.
Making these prophecies are a quick way to do that and deceive the
gullible. They are eventually found out, but in the meantime they gain
the fame they seek.

Matthew 24:36
Good News Translation (GNT)

No One Knows the Day and Hour(; , )
36 No one knows, however, when that day and hour will come—neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, the Father alone knows.

No one knows the date when God's day will come. "Not even the son who is Jesus".
Why doesn't he know?

Why doesn't he know?
I believe He was speaking from His inferior position at the time,
having become flesh. Now He does know for now he has the
glory He shared with the father and Holy Spirit in the beginning.
And all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him.
