I don’t think it’s Ok, but I think if it’s inconsequential and the alternative is worse, it’s understandable.

So lying is not “OK” (I.e. it’s a sin), but when you lie it is “understandable” so your version of Jesus turns a blind eye to it, so to speak?

I wasn’t just referring to myself, kiddo. I was referring to anyone who is in that kind of a situation.

Reminds me of a funny story, though I doubt it’s true.

A woman is trying on dresses and asks her male friend, “Does this dress make me look fat?”
