On the other hand if you are looking for my opinion, it is my opinion that fathers are needed just as mothers are. Both sexes have a role to play that the other cannot fill as well. That is, if you believe there to be differences in the sexes in how they relate to their offspring. Perhaps the boy can find father figures who can help fill that void.

I am not convinced that being a lesbian necessarily is due to not having a father figure around. Human behavior is hard to discern in terms of its causes. There is an environmental factors, genetic factors, spiritual factors etc. for our behavoir. What I am saying, however, is that children seem to need both mother and father. For example, the mother typically is the nurturer and the father the authority figure. Both are needed and if absent WILL effect the childrens development in some way.
You may have commented on this somewhere else, but do you have an opinion about why she turned into a lesbian inspite of having a father figure in her life?

That's a very wooly, totally unsubstantiated by evidence, claim you make there. Care to back it up with data?
Speaking from personal experience, however, I have encountered a handful of lesbian couples with children. From my obeservations the children tended to be "unruly" in many respects. I percieved this to be a result of a lack of an authority figure. Although such observations mean nothing in terms of proving anything perhaps it is why I have said what I have said. I don't think that being raised by lesbian couples dictates that children turn out "bad", whatever you choose this to mean. However, it does effect them in some way. The 64 dollar question then becomes how?
